[A] The Retail Ball Band is [D] four Oklahomans friends, family, [A] playing [F#] music.
[Bm] I don't really think there's any other comparable type of music scene, really.
[F#] I mean, we have
pride in [D] being from Oklahoma and making music from Oklahoma.
[E] [B] The group was [F#m] formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Met these guys and it formed basically overnight.
It's kind of [D] crazy how it all happened.
We've got our own sound and it's [F#] fun and it's refreshing.
[E] I get to play music with my friends every weekend and [D] make a living doing it.
There
ain't a better job than [F#] that.
[E] [D] When I started writing it was probably because I had to get it out, you [F#] know, I had to get
[E] what I had on my heart out.
And now my writing's different because [D] I've got these guys to help
me and really round [E] out what we want to portray [A] in a song.
[D] Serenade is [A] the latest [F#] single on our debut album, [A] Borrowed Time, which [F#] came out in April.
I was inspired [D] to write it.
I was having [A] a [F#m] bad evening and I called [D] up one of my good
pals at home and picked him up and we were going to ride around, we were going to talk
about everything, you know, and get [F#m] it figured out.
And I don't know, [Em] like a mile into it
he [D] passes out asleep and I'm driving by [F#m] myself and so I pulled out a piece of paper and turned
up the radio and started writing.
[D] [A] [F#m] I've [Am] never driven anything [F#m] but a Ford [D] and for them to come in and [F#m] even acknowledge us,
let alone [Em] get behind us and try to help [B] us out and push [A] us.
Come in a [D] Ford, you know, like, [F#] wow.
It's a pretty big deal.
[E] [F#] [A] [D] We've all got so many [F#m]
different influences that together, you know, it really makes a
unique [D] sound.
Like with the blues and with the metal drumming, you know, it's a little
different than [E] your standard [A] train beat country tune.
Our style of music is [D] rock and roll for [F#] sure.
Overdriven guitars, loud, and [D] your pace.
[E] We've made our [F#m] own brand.
In our opinion, I think that's what you look for as a musician
[D] or as a band, an artist, [F#m] is making something your [Em] own.
And I think all of our influences
together [D] have created a really [Em] unique sound.
That's why we feel like we're doing it right.
It's not all about Reed Southall.
We're the Reed [D] Southall Band.
You know, we are a band
of [F#] brothers that are making [E] music and trying to [F#] spread it [A] and hope [D] it helps other people
and [F#] hope we can continue to do it.
[E] [A] Thank you!
