This is Cody Carson from set it off [D] here with my obligatory [F#m] Christmas decorations
To explain and give you a little bit of a background on our song this Christmas
I'll burn it to the ground off of the punkos Christmas series
So let's begin.
So first of all, we were presented with the opportunity to be on the punko series
We were very excited because they gave us the option to either do an original or a cover and immediately [D] we thought
[F#m] Original, you know, we got we have to do something [C#] dark and out of left field
That'll you know kind [F#m] of add some diversity as far as the whole happy [C#] Christmas vibe goes and we're really excited to [D] have that
Sort of option.
So we were on war for [C#] when we found out that we were [F] going to be doing this compilation
So [F#m] immediately what we found out we got all excited [C#] and then I went to the bus and started talking about
[D] Concept as far as the story goes what we ended up coming [C#] up with is we [F] wanted to create a sort of
Snooty [C#] dark maniacal neurotic [A] satire of Christmas
Centered around this [F#m] character that we created named Jack now Jack is this kid who lives on a pink picture for you?
He lives in a cul-de-sac in a wealthy neighborhood with all these little snooty snobby kids
Who just talked to every year because they get everything they want but you didn't get anything that he wants
They vote one of them every year and it makes him start to hate Christmas hate the holiday
So one Christmas Eve he devises this plan to [F] at night when everyone's [F#] asleep because you know Santa's coming
He [B] sneaks into their houses steals [C#] all their gifts their trees [D] and drags them all to this giant pile in the middle of [F#m] a cul-de-sac
Lights it up with gasoline [C#] and then burns it to the ground in front of their eyes not before
[D] Making sure that he yells for their attention to [C#] come look out the window so they can [F] see exactly what's happening
[F#m] So this story takes you through his final [C#] breaking point
You get to see and get the idea of [D] all everything that he's going through and how he's just had [C#] he's determined to just make
[F] And this [C#] song the challenging part [F#] about it is we have [C#] this whole character and all these, you know
Surrounding characters [C#] in the story.
We need to try and convey in less [F#m] than you know, four minutes
You don't want to drag it out too long
We [G#] teams up with Zach and Ken and got ourselves some real instrumentalists to come in
I did this composition [E] that was definitely [D] inspired by the likes of Danny [C#] Elfman
And [E] Tim Burton with the nightmare [D] before Christmas as [C#m] well as the story is kind [F#m] of inspired by you know
the whole [D] Grinch obviously that will [A] settle [F#m] tail and
When we're in the studio we managed to get the soonest
[F] Violinist [E] a cellist the whole [A] choir came in to sing.
I had to like write all their parts out
It [C#] was an incredible incredible experience and on top of that we teamed up [F#m] with tie for mosh pit video
We have a video coming to you soon
[F] Which really excited about we went back [G#] and forth with ideas and [D] concepts created a mask for this character for Jack and [C#] really?
I saw the final product and I'm really excited to see what everyone thinks about it
