[Em] Shure has come out with an [B] economical UHF wireless [D#] microphone system.
So for [C] those of you that have [E] longer distances to cover, say above 100 feet, 150, 200 feet
[Cm] between the transmitter and the receiver, you really [F] want to stick with a [F#] UHF wireless
system rather than some of the new 2.4 gigahertz systems, which are fantastic [A] but have a very
short range, somewhere under [E] 100 feet.
[G#m] But the problem or the challenge with those systems [A] has been the expense.
Well, Shure has addressed that [C#m] by giving you Shure wireless quality in a more [B] economical package.
For [Em] instance, the body pack is plastic rather than metal, [G] but it does [E] have a toggle [Am] switch,
a switch that you can actually feel when [F] something's on or off, when the microphone [E] is on or off,
rather than a press button.
So that works out really well.
The way you do channels [B] in a UHF is you have a [Dm] group, group B in this [E] case, and a channel
4, and you simply match those up.
The [Dm] wireless handheld is a nice-feeling handheld.
[B] It's got a beta 58.
You can get other capsules as well.
But of course, as many [Am] of you know, this is my favorite [C#] capsule for male vocal.
It's [E] the microphone that I own and I use.
It's very smooth for male vocals.
And so you've got that with this Shure system.
But the thing I really want to point out is it's an economical system [C#] with the ability
to [A] remote mount the antennas.
So you've got the BNC connectors [B] here, so it'll work with all of the Shure standard
[E] antenna distribution systems.
That [B] way you can take and combine several [D#m] channels.
There is a rack tray available [A] for these.
[F#] You can combine those, so you have one set of antennas with the antenna combining system,
but multiple receivers, and still get that 150-, 200-foot [C#] range which you need to have
in a larger venue.
So if you need an [E] economical system, but you need [D] a UHF and you need to be able to [A] go to
long distances, then I'd really look at the BLX-4.
There are a couple of additional receivers that you need to know about.
This is a super portable, throw it in your backpack, no external [E] antenna type of system.
Now, when you don't have external antennas, [B] then your range is reduced.
But [F#] this one will work outstandingly well, again, in that 100-, 150-foot range, and it's
[A] easy to go ahead and take around with you for a portable [E] situation.
So if you've got a lot of investment in the handhelds and the [Am] belt packs, [A#] and you've got
a fixed [E] installation, but you need [G] to take a few microphones around [F#] with you to do portable
video work, do production work, then grab a few of these and put them in your backpack
and take them [A] with you for portable field production.
They work out really well.
[D#] And they have the dual-channel [E] version as well.
[A] So it's the BLX system for sure.
