I don't know if [C] I can say it
[Bm]
Ok, but
I'm not a good speaker.
I can't say it.
This is a [Bm] strange language.
I can't say it.
Ha ha!
[Am] Ready?
Yeah.
[Em] Yeah?
Alright.
[G]
[Gbm] Oh, wow. This is It's okay.
[Em] Intense.
Ha ha.
[C] Oh, man.
[Bm]
[C]
How do you feel?
I feel [Em] magical right now in the studio.
I feel good.
This is an incredible room.
[C]
I feel [D] calm, I would say.
I'm [Bm] calm.
Yeah, [E] okay.
[C] Looking at the camera?
Yeah.
There? Okay.
My name is Steven [G] Riley.
I'm from Seattle, [Bm] Washington.
And I've been listening to [Em] Segaros for [C]
[D] just over 10 [Bm] years.
Over 20 years since I was in college.
About 25 [Em] years.
About [C] six years ago.
But I really like listen [Em] to it.
With their song on the [Am] film Vanilla Sky.
Around [Em] later in elementary school when my dad introduced it to [C] me.
My little brother has been a part of my story with [D] Segaros from the beginning and he's why I'm here today, so yeah.
[Bm]
[Am] [G] [Bm] When I was a teenager, I was going down a hill [Em] and I went through a stop [C] sign and there was another [Bm] car coming to my left.
And it hit me in the legs to the point [C] where I then turned my body and the back of my head hit the windshield.
[G] Without a helmet on, I sustained [Am] a traumatic brain injury, which resulted in [G] a partial cerebellum ectomy.
The therapist [Am] allowed us to play our own music on Fridays.
[C] And there was a time where I said, [D] hi, I have something I want to play.
[Bm] It's a little weird.
It's a live recording.
But [Em] I think it'll help me [C] as I walk.
[D] [Bm]
She was, Sadie was born, [Am] when she was born, that song was playing [G] in the hospital.
And so that was the first song that she ever heard [D] and we're [Em] meeting her for the first time to that music and it's the end of this [C] journey.
So I have done [D] probably now 14 [Bm] years of ballet.
Segaros was a huge [C] contributor to [Am] how I became the artist and mover that I am [G] today.
There's no light in the studio [Am] and I just closed my eyes as [Em] the song kept playing [C] and I started crying, like [D] just on the floor.
[Bm] I was 14 years old.
[C] I was completely lost.
[Am] I had just gotten out of [G] a courtroom because [Am] I was sexually abused as a child.
[G] I lost half my [Am] friends.
[G] I've lost my best friend [Am] and I lost [G] my, my, [C] my understanding of what I thought the world was.
[D]
But it was OK [Bm] because I had the Parentheses album.
[Em] What is your favorite band?
And I said, [D] well, is this band from [Bm] Iceland?
Segaros.
[C] I said Segaros.
And [Am] immediately she said yes.
And then [G] from there it was the best day I ever had.
[Am] So on [G]
[Am] March 24th, my brother died.
[Am] The week before he [G] died, he, he sent me [C] a message saying that [D] he'd seen that Segaros was [Bm] starting to tour again.
And we had always [D] wanted to go to a concert together.
And I didn't respond to his message right away because he texted me in the middle of the night.
And, you know, I got busy.
I think he, he's here.
He's helping me get through this.
I think that the main quality of the [Eb] music is the fact that it has enough space for us to be immersed in [Gb] music.
And then suddenly you find [Bb] yourself surrounded by something that makes you comfortable enough to express yourself and to look inside.
