_ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _ Silver Eagle reminds me of Sailing to Philadelphia.
It has the same distant being-off-the-road feeling, but it's also much easier to play.
If in Philadelphia you had some complex time signature changes, [G] and here the rhythm is
straightforward and there is no chorus, I dare to say this is one of the easiest Mark's
songs to play, and at least from the 20 songs I already covered here in MKSB.
It also share a kinda [B] similar right-hand pattern to the Boom Like That, [Bb] _
_ _ [D] _ the same cover position
and most of the chords, so a couple of [Eb] times I found myself trying to mash the songs up,
but that's another story.
What is different from Boom Like That, though, is the downstrokes.
[G] The Silver Eagle rhythm part is soft, quiet and distant, total opposite of Boom Like That.
And the pattern is [Bb] thumb, index, thumb, middle, thumb and repeat. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ You can throw a downstroke occasionally, _ _ _ _ _ _ but it's optional and not necessary.
The intro is G to _ [Eb] C with G in the bass, _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _
[Bb] _ _ _ _ _ [Gm] Em, [Eb]
C with G in the bass, [G] Em, _ [D] [F] D with an F-sharp
in the bass, _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ [Eb] C with G in the bass.
_ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _
[Bb] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ [Gm] _ _ _
[Eb] _ _ _ [Gm] _ _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _
_ _ [Bb] _ The part between the verses is G, _ _
[Eb] _ _ [F] C, D with an F-sharp, _ _ [G]
Em, C [Eb] with G in the bass, _ [Cm] Am7, _ _
_ [Eb] C with G in the bass, [F] D, [Bb] G, [Eb] C.
_ _ [Bb] _ _ _ Notice how on the record Mark [F] plays the G chord ever so slightly after the D with an
F-sharp in the bass _
_ _ _ [Bb] _ here. _ _
[F] _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ [Eb] _ _
So it's more like [F] D with an F-sharp in the bass, [Eb] G, C.
[F] _
_ _ _ _ [Bb] _ [Eb] _ _ _
_ _ [Bb] And _ _ _ this [E] is it.
The song is perfect to play along with the record, to play it with a friend.
Also there's no crazy chords and stuff.
[F] D with an F-sharp in the bass, you can play it without the thumb. _

Also for [G] this one I have the chords written down, so really, if you like that song and
you want to play it, you have no excuses.
Thank you.
_ [Bb] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ _ [E] _ _ [G] I think the band let me get away with stuff because I'm the guy who wrote the song.
[B] Why did I do that?
Because it's alright.
[Abm] Oh, hot dogs.
It's not quite the same
