Hello, this is a simple blues in [D] the key of D for the mandolin
I'm gonna play it for you.
It's pretty short, and then I'll show you the fingerings.
Okay here we go
[G] Okay, [C]
[F#m] [G] [C]
[G] [F#m] [G] [Am]
[G] [F#m] [G] [C]
[G] [F#m] [A] [D] [G]
[D] [C#m] [D] [G] [Am]
[G] [F#m] [D] [Em] [C]
[G] [F#m] [D] [G] [F]
[G] [F#] [G] [C]
[G] [D] [G] [Am]
[Gm] [D] [A] [G]
[G#] [C#] [F#m] [G] [C]
[Gm] [D]
[E] so here's what we're doing if you don't know about blues progressions
[G] I'll tell you a little bit, but you need to sort of study up.
This is called a 12 bar blues
It's 12 measures of the progression before it repeats
So the first four measures
[F#m] Have this little figure this is for D
Second fret on the low G string and fourth fret on the D string
Okay, those two
Together [G#] and then same two strings, but now fourth [G] fret on the low G
Fifth fret on the D
and [G#m] then back to
fifth fret on the low [F#] G
seventh [F] fret on the D
Then back to the middle position which is the fourth fret on the low G
fifth fret [B] on the D
[Em]
So slowly here we go again from [F#m] the low G second and fourth second on the low G fourth on the D
[D]
Then fourth on [G] the low G fifth on the D
Then fifth on the low G [F] seventh on the D
[G] Back to fourth on the low G fifth on the D
So [F#m] you play it like this [G] [Am]
[G] [F#m] [G#] and my fingering as you can see you can do your own, but I use first [F#m] and third
[G] and first and second
[F] first and third
[A#] First [G] and second first [D] and third that keeps this pointer finger on that low string the whole time
[G] [F] [G]
[F#m] [G]
[Am] [G] [F#m] So that's all a D chord now you move down [G] to [C] [Gm] [C] [G]
G chord
What we're doing is playing the middle two strings open D
second fret on the A string
then
second fret on the D string third fret of the A [C] string
[G#] [G] Third fret on [A] the D [G] string fifth fret on the A string
back to the middle position second fret on the
D third fret on the [C] A [G] position open
open D and first fret
Go [G#] [Gm]
[C] [Bm] [G#]
[Dm] [C] [G]
[D] back to the [G] first fingering the [D] D
[Em]
[F] [G] [D] [G#m] Then I'm playing an A chord figure which is exactly like that first figure [A] we learned
But down on the middle two strings now, [G]
[A] so it's second and fourth
second on the D fourth on the A
[G] fourth and fifth fourth on the D [D] fifth on the A
And fifth and seventh fifth on the D [Em] seventh on the A
[G] And back to four and five
[C#m] [G] [C#m]
[A] [F#m] To the opening
[G] [F#] And [G] [F#m] I'm gonna play it through slowly
I'll call out what the chords are just so if you have a friend who plays guitar or something you can play it together
So we go one two three.
Here's the D
[G] [F] Or [G] [F#m] [D] there
[G] [Am] Here
[Em] [D] comes [G] the G
[C] [G] [G]
[D] [G] [Am] [Em] It's [F#m] back to the D.
Excuse me
Here comes the [C#] A
[G] As [C#m] [A] [D]
[G] [Em] [D]
you can see I'm hopping around I'll play this D figure
[G]
[F] [Em] [D] So I'm a little on the D chord and the G is very [G] simple back [C] [G] [C]
[G] to the G chord and for the [C#m] A chord
[D] [Em] That [D] [C#m]
[E] high E string goes with that [G] whole figure
[C#] So there you go
Get the blues have fun.

[Am] _ [G] _ [F#m] So that's all a D chord now you move down [G] to _ [C] _ [Gm] _ [C] _ [G] _ _ _
G chord
What we're doing is playing the middle two strings open D
_ second fret on the A string _
then
second fret on the D string third fret of the A [C] string
_ _ _ [G#] _ [G] Third fret on [A] the D [G] string fifth fret on the A string
_ back to the middle position second fret on the
D third fret on the [C] A _ [G] position _ open
_ open D and first fret _
Go _ _ _ [G#] _ _ [Gm] _ _
[C] _ [Bm] _ _ _ _ _ _ [G#] _
_ [Dm] _ _ [C] _ [G] _ _ _ _
_ [D] back to the [G] first fingering the [D] D
[Em] _
[F] _ [G] _ _ [D] _ _ _ [G#m] Then I'm playing an A chord figure which is exactly like that first figure [A] we learned
But down on the middle two strings now, [G] _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ so it's second and fourth
second on the D fourth on the A
[G] _ fourth and fifth fourth on the D [D] fifth on the A
And fifth and seventh fifth on the D [Em] seventh on the A
[G] And back to four and five
_ [C#m] _ [G] _ _ _ [C#m] _
_ _ [A] _ [F#m] To the opening
[G] [F#] And [G] _ [F#m] _ _ _ _ I'm gonna play it through slowly
I'll call out what the chords are just so if you have a friend who plays guitar or something you can play it together
So we go one two three.
Here's the D
[G] _ [F] Or [G] _ [F#m] _ _ [D] _ _ _ there
[G] [Am] Here _
[Em] _ [D] _ _ _ comes [G] the G _
