Sir Paul McCartney on the Deluxe Reissue of 'RAM' | Exclusive Interview chords

[D] We are doing a series of archive stuff, [G] my old albums,
and Ram is the next up.
And we have been working on it for a [D] while.
And what I wanted to do was kind of give [G] a nod
to the period when it was created.
And my memories from that period are quite hippie.
[D] It's quite sort of Glastonbury, man, you know,
and beards and stuff.
[G] And [Bm] I had some memories that I [G] talked to my team about.
I said, you know, let's [D] try and just sort of
make it a little bit more down home
than a big glossy presentation.
And I remembered [G] this story of a guy coming to see me
when I was up in Scotland.
And [D] he actually was the self-styled Queen of Norman.
There's a little town in [Em] America,
and I went by it on Route [G] 66 a couple of years ago
when I did my trip there.
And he [D] was great, he was just, you know.
He said, I'm the Queen of Norman.
I said, well, you better come in then,
you know, your [G] majesty.
Anyway, he came in and he had a burlap bag
with a vinyl record in it.
[D]
And he just gave it to me.
And I said, what's this?
And there was no identification, it was really funky.
[Em]
And it was Butch [G] and the Snake Stretcher,
which turned out to be Roy Buchanan.
[D]
It was nice, it was a little blues record.
But the way he'd given it to me,
just a vinyl LP [G]
in just a burlap bag.
I told everyone at the meeting, I said,
can we do that with Ramp?
Said, [D] mm-mm, not really.
But I said, okay, that's the spirit
that we'd like to try and get.
So it is a little bit more [E] sort of down home,
a little bit [G] more funky.
But it's been great fun putting it together.
And the [D] team I've got, you know, are really cool.
They research everything.
So I'm seeing [E] stuff I didn't know I ever [G] said
to people I didn't even know I'd ever met.
[D]
So, you know, that adds to the excitement of putting it out.
I think it's a really, [Em] really good package.
And it's nice to hear the album [G] after all these years,
because I have seen people through the years
say, my favorite album, man, Ram, I love that album.
But so it's nice to revisit it.
