I'm going to talk about Marcus Miller triplets.
He does all sorts of triplets, of course there are more than one type.
I've shown in earlier videos where you can do a triplet with a
[B]
[A] and I do that earlier, [Bm] I'm going
[A] but another thing Marcus Miller does
is he does a hammer-on and I'm going to do three hammer-ons now.
I'm going to do
G to A, A to B, [B] D to E.
[E] Now what he [G] does is he does one hammer-on and then he plucks the open G string.
[F#]
[G] [D] Then
[G]
[B]
Now you can either leave the G ringing like that or you can kind of mute it.
[E]
[C#] And with this [G] technique you can do them everywhere, you know.
I'm just going down, you know, like [G#] a E, sort of minor blues scale.
[A#]
[B]
I think he does it in a David Sanborn number, a little solo.
He does that.
OK, so, but they're really useful to just put in any little place.
You're doing a nice slap line and you just chuck it.
