Hey [C] everybody, this is Kenneth again.
Welcome in my kitchen.
Today I'm at home.
I just want to show you how you can set up your [E] gear to create the sound of [A] Shoegaze.
Pretty similar sound to the sound of My Bloody Valentine or maybe you know the band Astrobride for sure.
Because I got really inspired by these two bands especially.
I bought a lot of effect pedals over two [N] years now.
I spent lots of money and in the end I found out that Shoegaze is a pretty artificial sound
and that you can also use digital pedals for sure.
Not the big analog myth that you have to buy only expensive analog pedals for [Ab] getting a
real good sound.
No.
You can also buy really cheap pedals because they also can have a very interesting sound
and for Shoegaze everything is possible.
Why not?
I just want to show you today a [Eb] really simple setup with a really small Fender amp with
just three pedals and one of these pedals is a tuner.
So [G] in the end you just need two pedals to create that sound.
[Am] One is a [G] reverse reverb and the other pedal is a distortion.
Maybe an overdrive, a distortion or a fast pedal.
Whatever you like.
Well, so come on, let's go and I show you what I do.
These are the guys I'm using.
This is my [D] lovely equipment and yeah as you can see it's a simple Fender Princeton 112 plus amp.
In Germany it was maybe 200 Euros or so.
On the right side are the pedals I [Eb] have and on the left side are the pedals I'm using.
So you know what I mean.
And here is my lovely Squier Fender Jaguar guitar.
You can make awesome Shoegaze sounds with every guitar you find.
I'm using a Squier because it was cheaper and I can modify it the way I want to.
I'll show you how it sounds.
So here you see in the [G] first person view the polytune of TC Electronic.
By using the [A] tremolo it [A] can be that your [G] strings are detuned [Em] sometimes.
So make sure [G] that you have the tuner on stage.
[A] So this is my clean sound.
[B]
[A] [Gbm] [D]
[Abm] And this is the Hardwire RV7 stereo reverb.
Yeah maybe the smallest pedal out there which can create a reverse reverb.
It explains itself.
It's a reverb just [A] reversed and it sounds that way.
[B] [A]
[D] [A] Without it and
[B] [A]
with it.
[B]
[A] I always use the tremolo with it because it sounds much more Shoegazy.
And this is [E] Duesex Maschine Fuzz [A] and yeah it sounds that way.
[B] What I really love about this pedal is that it has a blend [C] knob here.
[A] And so I can just blend in the fuzz noise and as much as I want it.
Here slowly.
[C] And if you add now [G] the reverse reverb in front of the distortion pedal.
This is the most important [Ab] thing.
Then you get this [A] sound.
[Ab]
[B] [E] [A]
[E] [A]
[B] [Dbm]
[A] [D]
[A] And without it.
[B] [Dbm]
[E] [D]
So that's it.
[Eb] If you want to know how I set up my Jaguar guitar.
Set it in the triangle position like that.
And up there for the pickup selection is always set it down.
So that I get a very warm but also quite [C] high sound.
Sure there are 1000 possibilities how you can create your Shoegaze sound.
This is the way I do it.
This is the basic sound I like.
Tell me what you're doing and inspire other people by leaving a comment.
Or subscribe [A] for more videos in the coming months.
And tell me what you would [G] like to know about Shoegaze music and I will help with it.
So see you later.
