Song Walkthrough - Long after you're gone chords
Start Jamming...
Hey there everybody, so I've had a couple of asks to teach you guys how to play the long after you're gone and
It's pretty straightforward song.
We are in drop D tuning and
[N]
This isn't exactly
What's on the record?
I'm sure a lot of you guys ran into the same problem
I wanted to learn the song and I could not find
chords or tabs or anything for it, so I just kind of had to
Listen to it out and get it close so
We're close enough for performance sake
But so the first bit is these [A] harmonics here is
[F] 7 on the D and G string and
12 on the e [B] you could also just play this as chords, but I really like the way
That it rings out with that
[D] Little bend on to open.
This is basically [N] just a d5 chord
You know your regular D chord looks like this.
[A] This is just [D] adding the octave
of [Gm] that chord in there and then
We go to this kind of shape right here
and
[Bb] You hammer on [Eb] the a sharp [Gm] up here on the [C] a string so when you put those two bits [D] together
[Gm]
[D] That's pretty much that whole
phrase right there, [Gm] [D]
[G] and this [Dm] is just
[A] 103 on the [D] E string [Ab] down to [Dm] be so power [Gm]
[D] [Gm] [D]
[F] chords F [G] up the [Dm] G
[G]
[B] [A]
[B] [D] [Gm] [A]
[N] That's pretty much the whole structure of the verse and everything right there the [Am] chorus
Brings in an a minor [Bb] chord and an a sharp major chord
[F] into F [B] G
E [Gb] D
[D] So to kind of put all that together you got the verse
[Dm] [C]
[Am] [F] [D]
Heard you were going on a journey
And your route is laid out plain
Going where the [Bb] sun shines every [F] day no more heartache no more pain
[D] [E] [D] Don't [Gm] back look back too full [D] my friend make sure you'll [Gm] travel light
[D] I've taken off of my love with you [C] to keep you [D] warm at night
[F] [G] [C] Here's the chords not [Am] to be singing [Bb] this song
[F] [C]
[D] Long after you go
[Gm] And then that just repeats [D] again
[A] Along with this little bit.
I'll explain this
I [Am] could be singing this song [F] Oh
[G] [F] Long [D] after you go
[N] So that little bit there in the middle is just um [Gm]
as I'm [D] holding
You [G] know these on the E and the B string here.
[A] I'm also doing this little walk up
[E] [A]
That [B] last note is just on an open a string
[D]
[A] Now you'll be singing this [Bb] song
[C] [G] [D] Long after you go
[B] Now the breakdown is pretty much just the [Db] same thing it just stays on [Am] the [Bb] a
[F] Minor and then the a sharp
[Am] [Bb] [C]
Be [D] sleeping tonight
[E] [A] I
[Am] Pray that unseen star no matter where [C] you are
[D] You're gonna be
[Gb] That's pretty much how you play the [D] whole song
[Eb] Feel free to watch [Dm] back to my original video to [Ab] get like the rhythm
And you know the context of all the parts, but that's pretty much
