[G#] [B] I was a huge Alice Cooper fan.
[D#] [C#m] And actually I just, I got taken [Em] to a child psychiatrist because I would freak out every
time I got taken to get my hair cut.
[Am] So at [Em] one point they locked me in the car and I kicked the windows out of the [Am] car and
my parents took me to this child psychiatrist [Em] and I was like, I just want to have long hair
like Alice [Am] Cooper.

[Am] I'm the pain bird.
Oh [D] yeah, I'm the pain bird.
Every time I put an album [B] out I sort of change the touring lineup.
[C] I guess that's one of the advantages of being, you know, like Palace is Will Oldham, you
know, and he can [F#] be so, I'm Sparkle Horse and every album I release I can have a totally new band.
So [F] like last [E] time I toured the UK I had [Bm] drums, guitars and bass and everything and [G] now I'm
doing just more of a mellow thing with film and some drum machine [D] stuff going.
So I'm doing, I'm also doing sort of, I guess consider smaller songs like these little acoustic
songs and songs that I haven't really been doing for a long time touring and some songs
that I've never played live.

[G] Play [D] great keyboards.
All for fifteen.
[C] Say.
[Bm] A lot of other [A] bands that I've [Bm] sort of been into myself, [C] friends like the Flaming Lips
and [B] Grandaddy and Mercury Rev.
I think they were also [D] popular around that same time, [G] like around 96 on we were all I
think a little [B] more popular in [E] Europe and the UK than we were in our [B] own country.
[C#] Manchester I think was the first time I'd ever [G] [B] played a show and people [F#] in the audience
sang along [Em] and that just totally just freaked me out.
That [Am] never happened before.
And in Ireland too, especially in Dublin, [G] I've just always loved playing in the UK and
British people just [B] seemed to really have got my music from [F#m] the get go.
You know in the [B] States [Bm]
I think when it came out and [C#] still maybe people [Em] just saw it as
[A] I don't know, [G] depressing or dark or just too weird.
So [Bm] I think that's one of the [F#m] biggest reasons that [Bm] I've played more in the UK than I have
in the [F#m] States.
I was sick here in the hospital for three months [Em] in St.
[A] Mary's in Paddington [G] and last
night was the first time I'd ever [B]
played that song, St.
Mary in England [F#m]
and talked about
it and actually told the audience in the song [G] I wrote about the sisters, [Em] specifically these
[D] two Irish girls, Fiona and Emer.
[B]
They just took really good care of me in the hospital to the [E] extent where they would come
in on their days [A] off to [D] check on me.
[Bm] They saved my life [G] there.
It wasn't just the sisters [F#m] but the doctors [C#] really [F] were very
