Jam Along & Learn...
[F] Just a good old boy, never [Bb] meanin' no harm, [D] he's all you ever
a minute, wait a minute, I got an idea, I got an idea.
every day since I got the part of Bo Duke on the Dukes of Hazzard,
on the Dukes of Hazzard.
I did a whole bunch of theater and guitar playing and magic and all kinds of things all around Atlanta.
And one day I was working in the Omni in a thing called the Crazy Horse Saloon Review.
heard that Warner Brothers was upstairs in the Omni casting a television show.
And I found out that they wanted 100% Southern, no actors, good old boys, somewhere in their 20s.

_ [F] _ Just a good old boy, never [Bb] meanin' no harm, _ _ [D] he's all you ever_
Oh, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, I got an idea, I got an idea.
I'll tell ya, you [Gb] know, people have asked me every day since I got the part of Bo Duke on the Dukes of Hazzard,
they ask me how I got the part of Bo Duke on the Dukes of Hazzard.
Y'all wanna know how.
_ _ _ Okay, now, I did a whole bunch of theater and guitar playing and magic and all kinds of things all around Atlanta.
And one day I was working in the Omni in a thing called the Crazy Horse Saloon Review.
And I heard that Warner Brothers was upstairs in the Omni casting a television show.
And I found out that they wanted 100% Southern, no actors, good old boys, somewhere in their 20s.
So I said, well, shoot, _ _ _ shoot, I got that lick.
_ But I'm gonna need a couple of things.
So what I [G] did, if I can not tear my guitar up here, I went [Ab] and I got myself a few little props.
Let me get myself untied for [Bm] the part. _ _ _ _
_ _ I went, _ walked [B] upstairs, looked in my closet and found me an old T-shirt.
[N] There it is.
Old T-shirt. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Gb] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ And
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _
I put this one on.
_ Just like that. _ _ _
[B] Now, y'all know that a good old boy is no good without a pickup truck.
[Dm] _ _ _ So I went out [N] and I borrowed myself the prettiest little pickup truck you've ever seen in your life.
I got in it.
I said, thank you much.
Bye.
Got in it and started driving down the road.
And the friend of mine that I borrowed it from came running out in his underwear _ with this hat in his hand.
And he said, wait a minute, you can't take the pickup truck without the hat.
Goes with the truck.
So I said, OK.
He said, you want to be a good old boy, you got to wear this.
_ There it is.
_ Good old boy hat.
_ But there was something missing.
There was something that was not quite right.
_ You know what it is?
A good old boy ain't a good old boy without a good old can of PBR.
_ [C] _ _ [Bm] Right. _
So [F] I had my shirt, I had my hat, I had my PBR, I had [Ab] my pickup truck and I was ready.
I was 110 percent Southern.
I was ready.
_ So I walked [N] upstairs.
It was on the 13th floor.
Must have been my lucky day.
Hey, how y'all doing?
_ _ And what I did, _ I got up there.
I walked right in through the door.
Just kind of started in through the door.
I said, hi, how y'all doing?
_ And I sat down and I looked at Warner Brothers man right [Abm] dead in the eye.
Of course, I don't know which one of the Warner Brothers it was.
And [Gb] I looked him in the eye and I said, what _ [D] _ _
_ _ _ _ [Gb] _ kind of character y'all looking for? _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And then all I had to [Eb] do was audition with about 250 people every night of the week.
Screen test on every [Dm] Friday night for five and a [N] half weeks in Hollywood, California.
And then I got the part.
_ [Gb] They picked me for the part.
I couldn't believe it.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
[N] And just to tell you and show you that [Gb] Warner Brothers [Db] people out there know exactly what they're looking for.
The minute they see it, these producers are so [N] sharp.
The first thing they made me do is take off the shirt. _ _ _ _
_ [F] _ _ [Bb] _ _ Get rid of this.
[F] They [Bb] made me trade in my white [F] pickup truck for an orange [Bb] car.
They call it General [F] Lee.
_ [Bb] _ _ [F] Told me to keep my feet to myself.
Just a good old boy.
He didn't [Bb] know how. _ _
[F] He's all you [C] ever saw.
Been in trouble with the law [F] since the day they was born. _
Straightening the curves.
[Bb] Flattening the hills. _
[F] You know, someday [C] the mountain might get him, but [F] the law never will. _
[C] They're making their way.
The only way they know how. _
_ Well, that's just a little bit more than [F] the law would allow. _
Just a good old boy.
They wouldn't change if [Bb] they could.
[F] You know, they're fighting the [C] system like a two [F]-monitor on his hood. _
