[B] Hey, this is Aaron Bedrosian [D] for Bass Players United, and what I'm going to do today is
give you a [G] quick little lesson [N] on strumming.
So one of the best ways to get going with strumming on a bass is just to mute all the
strings with your left hand, and then just focus on getting nice, clean, even eighth
notes or sixteenth notes with your right hand.
And I'm using my middle and ring fingers, but you can use your index finger too, whichever
ones work best for you.
So once you've got that nice and smooth with a metronome, you can start incorporating some notes.
One of my favorite things to do is something like [E] this.
[B] There I'm just fretting E and its octave every fourth time, and it's sort of giving it some shape.
Once you get that [A] kind of thing down, you can start moving it around and creating some melodies.

[F#] [G]
[F#] [E]
[G] And you can use whatever scale you want, whatever notes you want, as long as you keep the rhythm
even, [F#] you're going to get this really cool effect.
So at the end of the day, once [G] you get comfortable with that, you can sort of take it some other
directions and add some [C#m] hammer-ons, and once you get comfortable, [G] you can end up with something
more [E] like this.
