How are we?
We're looking at [Ab] Dire Straits today and Sultans of [B] Swing.
We'll look at
the various parts we need [C] to put together.
We'll [F] start with that part, although it's
the chorus part, it's the part you [G] might want to learn first.
It's quite good fun.
We're starting off in [Dm] D minor, then [C] C major, [Bb]
A sharp major, you can do about as best as
you can here.
It fits with the fingers quite well.
[Dm] [Bb]
Then hammer a couple of these.
Then
whilst you're still on the A sharps here, come up for [F] F, then back up to C, then back
down to [C] C here.
Whilst keeping this, come up and do another inversion of [F] F, then [C] down
to C.
So put that together and you've got something like this.
[Dm]
[Bb] [F] [C]
So run through that again.
D minor, C major, [Bb] A sharp major.
Keep that here, [F]
an F chord, then come up with the C
here, keeping the same F chord.
Then [C] keep the C here and drop down to C.
Keeping this
here, F, C.
[Dm] [Bb]
[F] [C]
[Em]
We're going to look at one of the verses, [Dm] starting in D again.
[C]
So that's just [Bb] to [A] the microphone.
Now if you want, at this point, you can come up, hit this.
[Dm] So [C]
we're A [Bb] sharp major, A major.
[A]
So you're just keeping that.
You don't have to do this, but it
adds to it.
[Dm] Same again, D, [C] C, [Bb] A sharp, [A] A.
Now down to F.
F's here and we're going to do [F] a
F sharp.
So F's here and we're doing [C] C.
Pass over [F] to A.
[C]
Momentary F on this and C.
[C] Down to your A sharp.
[Bb]
[Dm] A nice crescendo on [Bb] this A.
Up to [Dm] D.
[Bb] [C]
So that bit, back down to A.
[C] C.
We are the [Bb] sultans.
[C]
We are the sultans [D] of swing.
And then we're back to this pattern again
of D, C, A sharp.
[Bb] Okay.
Then same as beginning.
A sharp's here, [F] C here.
And then up to C here.
C sharp, C major here.
[C]
Same again.
Same as the beginning [F] pattern.
[C]
And then [Dm] again.
[Bb] [C]
Okay.
That's the two main bits you need to put it together.
[N] So if you want to do the solo part,
you can just do some triplets on those same chords.
Do something like this.
[Dm] [A]
[Dm] [Bb]
[A] [F]
[Bb]
[Dm] [Bb]
[C] [Bb] [C]
[Dm] [Bb] [C]
Sultans of Swing.
See you next time.
