_ _ Hello there and welcome to a bit of ukulele.
This song we're going to look at is Summertime by [Gb] George Gershwin
_ _ _ And it's in the key of A minor.
For the ukulele we're tuning to
[Gm] _ [C] G C E A.
Goats can eat anything.
Yeah, so we're [Fm] just putting one finger
_ _ on the second fret on the [Am] G string
_ _ _ _ So that gives you an A minor, yeah
_ _ _ Nice easy start for summertime _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Now the second [Ab] chord you're going to move to is an E7
So you're going to use that same finger
Instead of pointing at one string you make a bar
Slide up a couple of frets and put your next finger on the [E] far string _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _
_ _ _ _ You see you can strum with your thumb
_ _ [Am] _ _ [E] _ _ _ [Am] _
Or you can strum with your _ index finger, fingernail
_ _ [E] _ _ [Am] _ _
_ _ Sometimes it's easier to hold it if you've got it like this
_ Anyway, practice that for the A minor
1 2 3 4 E 7 _
[F] Now you want to make sure your bar is _ _
[E] Like strong and then you add a little _ middle finger on the side
So _ _ _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ that's the bass pattern of the song
[Am] A minor E A minor E A minor E
After _ you've done the A minor [E] and the [N] E
The next chord you're going to strum just once is D minor
Which is index on [Eb] the string
_ And then these next two here
If you play guitar [B] it's like an E pattern or an A minor pattern
[Dm] A minor pattern here
So _ _ index here, first fret
_ Next two fingers, second fret here
_ _ So you give it one strum
_ _ _ And you're going to lift this finger _ to make [F] F
_ _ [Dm] So D minor _ _ and F
[Gb] Very close together, only one note difference
This is going from a D to a C
_ [Dm] _ _ _ _ _ [F] _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ And you want an E7 just to finish that [Bb] Two E7's
So let's put the [Am] first section together
You've got your A minor
_ _ Summertime _
3 [E] 4 E7
And [Am] 11 A D
_ Now _ [E] _ _
D minor
[Dm] _ F _ _
_ [F] _ _ _ and the [A] car in his [D] hand _ _ _ _ _ _ _
So just do single [Am] strums on those last E7
Then you're back to the first pattern _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ Now the [Gb] next chord is C
So from the E7 just slide down two and just [C] one finger _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
A minor, we'll do eight of the A minors to count us in
1 2 3 4 _ _ _
_ Summertime
_ _ [E] 3 4 E7
And [Am] 11 A D _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ One strum on a [Dm] D minor
_ Then to F and the car in [E] his hand
On an E7 _
_ _ [Am] I am _ once rich
[E] _ _ And your [Am] daddy's good
_ _ _ _ [E] _ So on C this
[C] _ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
[Am] One of these mornings
A [Ab] minor and E7
Gonna rise [Am] up singing _ _
_ [E] _ D minor
_ [Dm] You'll spread your wings [F] too
And you'll take [E] to the sky
_ _ E7
_ _ [Am] On that _ morning
_ [E] _ You'll get a [Am] _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ C
_ [C] So _ _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ hopefully you've enjoyed that _
And we'll see you soon, thanks for watching _ _
