Start Jamming...
Stay [C#] tuned, because we've got an unlikely moment that [A#] rocked everyone's world.
Everybody in the [C#] audience were ready to just boo [G] her.
[N]
[D] We're nearly at the end of [F#] our journey through the 20 moments that rocked talent shows.
I'm [F#m] Edward.
I'm John.
Miss Lena Zapparock.
[F] Liam Payne.
Harry Styles.
[F#m] Gareth Gates.
But before we bring down the curtain,
a superstar whose moment of discovery absolutely defined the very best of British [A#] talent.
[D#] 2007 [Gm] saw the launch of Britain's Got [F] Talent,
[Gm] a show that reinvented [F] variety for the new [A#] millennium.
[D#] I think Britain's Got Talent brings that whole kind of [Gm] old school variety show back, you know,
and the whole thing [D] about the buzzers.
[F] People love sitting on the edge of their seat [A#m] thinking,
oh my god, are they going [D#] to buzz somebody off?
[D] October 2009, and at the Glasgow [D#] first round auditions,
hidden [F] amongst the mediocre [D] magicians and dancing dogs,
is perhaps the most remarkable discovery in talent show [N] history.
Hi, what's your name darling?
My name is Susan Boyle.
When Susan Boyle walked out on the stage of Britain's Got Talent,
I thought, oh Christ, it's going to be one of these, isn't it?
Everybody in the audience were ready to just boo her.
How old are you Susan?
I am 47.
And that's just one sign of me.
And the [B] first note out of her mouth, [A]
dead [F#m] silence in the room,
and everybody was glued to the [G#] TV.
[D#] [A] [E]
I've never seen Simon look [D] so angelic.
It was [F#] like [B] he'd become enlightened or born again or something.

[G#m] Then [C#] when she [F#] delivered the song, you felt that.
He's like, oh dear.
[D#m]
I really [F#] shouldn't have thought this.
Everybody [N] was prejudging Susan.
Not a person in that audience thought she was going to be good.
The judges were [F#] going, oh, here we go.
And I think [B] that was the magic of it.

[G#] [N] For Susan Boyle, it was overnight fame.
She was a middle-aged lady who had probably had a very quiet life in [A#] Scotland,
and suddenly she's invited the world's press.
We [D#] all thought her victory was assured.
[Gm] She lost out in the final to diversity.
[F] [D#] However, [D] Susan Boyle proved that you can win [F#] prizes for coming second.
[B]
Just six [G#m] months later, Susan released an album
[F#] that topped the charts on both sides of the [E] Atlantic.
She became America's fastest [F#]-selling debut artist of [G#m] all time.

[F#]
FALL AROUND [B] EVERYWHERE
She topped [Em] the UK and American [C#m] charts twice in the same year.
If you imagine what she was doing the week before,
[B] you know, karaoke down the local pub, that is the power of [F#] TV.
MAKING [E] NOISE
SO RESTLESSLY
[B] 300 million [F#] hits on YouTube.
I mean, [B] that's unheard of.

[G#m]
[F#] Did I think we were looking at a [B] big star?
I honestly didn't.
The United [G#m] States, especially in the entertainment industry,
is all about [G#] the perfect package, and she [F#] totally blew the mould [E] on that.
And [F#] well done to her.
[G#m] [F#] [E]
Anyone who thinks that they're not prejudiced in any way,
[F#] you know, for a moment, we were all guilty [G#] together,
[F#] and we all got [E] put in our place together.
