Start Jamming...
I want to get back to some of these country songs that I started out with and just maybe
do a record [Gb] that really kind of had a country influence.
And so I thought I'm going to start with a Miranda song.
So I sat down at the table and just [Eb] started [D] going through [Eb] Merle songs, thinking which
one of these is going to be on this country project.
[Gb] And by the time I was done, [N] I said all of them.
So it ended [C] up that I [Eb] kind of felt weird about it because Merle in [Ab] 2014 is on the road all
the time and working [N] so much.
And I just said, you know, I'm going to call it and make sure you understand my purpose here.
So [Gb] the reason I wanted to do it, but, you know, singing the songs from a girl's standpoint
was absolutely no different than singing it from a guy's [N] because honestly, they're just so universal.
They're just about the human condition and the emotions we go through in our [F] relationships.
And [D] I want to get that out.
And I was really [A] trying to highlight his singing [Bbm] and not to [Db] take over his artistry because
nobody could ever do that.
[C]
I need one of my fancy bits for this one.
[Bb]
So [Dm] I grew up in this little town.
[Eb] I know my dad worked for [D] International Harvester [C] and he was the big Merle fan at our house.
[D] And I had the eight tracks [F] that were in a car to learn songs off of.
[Bb]
And because [Dm] of that [Fm] background, you know, there was occasion when [D] my dad was actually
on strike at Christmas time, which was [Bb] just horrible.
You know, we kind of feared, you know, like what's going to happen?
You know, was everything going to be okay?
Are we going to be all right?
This song I think I particularly just smacked him up.

Nothing I've [G] done is right.
[Cm] [F] And our time is not our [C] greatest in the [Dm] world.

[F] want a Christmas to be right for [Bb] a dying girl.
I don't need a [Eb] hand to send my [Cm] love.
