I think you guys are going to love this.
This is different, man.
Without venturing too far away from [Em] what we did on the first Sweet Lynch album, this has
some different qualities to it, but I think in a really good way.
I think it's a better album, right out [Gbm] of the box.
This seems to be a little higher level [Db] of excitement.
There's a really great flow with all these [B] songs right now, and I'm getting a good feeling
about every song so far.
Stylistically, the songs are maybe [Ab] coming from a slightly different place at first,
which is pretty cool.
And there's kind of a pretty classic [Abm] vibe to all of the songs.
There's several tracks that [E] I'm really, really excited about.
It's just [Db] fun to work on.
I'm really, really, [Abm] really excited about this one.
And not like in a kind of EPK, phony kind of [E] like, oh my god, I'm doing this so I have
to hype it.
[Dbm] It's got a lot more energy than the last one.
[B] It's got a bit of a different vibe than [Ab] before, but Brian Tisci and James Lomenzo, who were
the rhythm section on the last record, came back, so there's a certain core [C] consistency
of the record, which is nice to hear.
[Ab] You know, and [Eb] just killer [F] sauce.
[E] Super excited to have the Sweet [Abm] Lynch Project back [Db] here, and they're old friends, and [Abm] it's
like the second home [A] for them, I think.
[Ebm] [Ab] [Ebm] I've [Abm]
[E] [Db] been coming here for 10 years, Spirit House, and there's [A] no plans of going anywhere else.
[Gb] We sleep here, we have [B] fun, we break bread together, [Gb] we drink wine together, we wake
[Db] up, we get showered, [B] we go [A] record, and then we eat [Ebm] together and laugh.
It's a party, a joy, and I think that [A] [Eb] shines through in the tracks.
It's going great.
We come in here and we focus, you know, we just get some [Gb] coffee and hit it hard [B] and go
[Ebm] until we're not going to go [Eb] anymore.
I love the recording studio.
[A] I love the [E] pressure.
Getting good tones, getting good sounds, good [Fm] performances, and [Abm] you know, [N] making the people
who wrote the songs happy.
I'm getting pretty pumped up.
[Ebm] The guys are killing it.
I'm all on [Ab] the dead [Eb] ground.
The skies could be severe.
I can walk on the water.
[N] Not only are they individually the best, together, they play so well [Gbm] together.
As independent [Eb] musicians, you know, we play [Gb] all kinds of music.
You know, it's not just relegated to, you know, [Db] that fantastic 80s stuff.
But George is known for his style, [Eb] and Michael's known for his style, and I'm known for my
style and Brian [Gb] as well.
So when you [Db] put us together in a room, we kind of all know that, like, the focus of
the thing is [Ab] to kind of keep it in [Db] genre.
And there's those rockin' [B] songs [Ebm] that people expect to hear from George [E] and I.
And there's some surprises [B] along the way.
We stretched out a little bit more and tried [Gb] some different [Ab] things.
The last album was probably more straight [Gb] ahead.
[B] This has [Gbm] a little more depth [Ab] to it.
You'll hear this song, then the next song to follow, you might say, oh, wow, you know,
this is [Gb] different.
That kind of thing.
[E] To find we've [B] been wisdom
[Abm] United we [Gb] will [Cm] fall
[Dm] James and I and Brian and I and Michael and I [Bb] are friends.
[F] They were working on the East Coast [Cm] with Michael and his studio.
I [Bb] worked by myself in [Eb] my studio in Los Angeles, which on the [Gb] surface doesn't sound ideal.
[Bb] But actually, I think because of that, [Gm] the record sounds very [Bbm] unique.
Both records sound very unique.
But I think [Db] they are very similar.
Two sides of the [Cm] same coin.
We were able to [Bb] live with the second record for a couple of years and kind of think about
it and absorb it and go, well, what could we have [Cm] done better?
[Bb] And we thought, well, you know, let's make it a little more meat and potatoes, but still
go outside here and there.
You know, we've got to have our [Cm] ballads.
You know, we've got to have little [Bb] esoteric bits here and there.
That core substance of just [F] that ideal, [Abm] perfect rock record, that dragon that we [Eb] keep chasing.
[F] You feel the [Cm] breeze of [Bb] broken [Eb] glass.
[F] [Bb] You [Fm] experience the [Cm] record as a whole [Bb] seamless [Eb]
[Bb] one thing, [Eb] you know, rather than just [Gb] individual
[G] songs, you know, put it together [Ab] like a rock [Cm] opera.
[Gm]
[Ab] [Eb]
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
[Ab] You [Bb]
[Eb] [Cm]
know, George sends me these ideas, man, [Ab] and it just clicks.
It's so easy to write a melody [Gb] to and to be inspired by because they're different.
[Db] [Ab] So far, it [E] sounds unbelievable.
Like, we've really like, we've kind of [B] dialed it in, you [Db] know, over time, what Michael's looking for.
[Ab] So I start thinking about it, you know, a couple of weeks before we start a project
[E] and I start thinking about how am I going to [B] capture this in the best way [Gb] possible.
[Ab] And we ended up in a really great place.
[Bb] Because I'm so in it and have been for the past 10 years, like every day pretty much,
writing, recording, touring, I think you start to get better at your craft, or at least you
hope you do.
And I think that [Ab] the songs are getting better.
We're figuring out as we go how to do this [Db] better.
If you think about it, James was in White Lion [Ab] back in the day, Michael Edd Stryper,
George Student-Doc, and these guys were like, you know, I'm the kid, 15 years old, whatever,
grabbing a circus magazine.
There [Db] they all are, turn on MTV, and there they all, you [E] know.
So it's always nice [Ab] when you grow up a bit and these guys have seen you or heard you
play and you meet them and then you have work with them, you know.
It's always fulfilling, working with people that you [Db] respected even when you were a kid.
I never forget that.
[Ab]
[N] I can't wait for people to hear it.
That's always the toughest part for me.
I want to take all those song ideas that we have right now and go load them up and say,
[Ab] hey, listen to this, you guys.
Can't do that.
[Bb] Doesn't work that way, but it's like a kid in a candy store, man, you know, Christmas
morning, opening those presents.
[Ebm] That's the [F] level of excitement.
[Ab] I don't think anybody's going to be [Fm] disappointed at all.
If they like the last record, I think they're going to like this one more.
There's more energy in these tracks.
The caliber of [Bb] musicianship is off the charts.
[N]
We want to improve upon the last album.
We want to outdo it.
We want it to be better.
So fans are, you know, pleasantly surprised and they keep coming and they keep buying
and they keep wanting more.
I mean, that's what we [Ab] got to do.
[Ebm] [Fm] Come on.
Let's go.
