[E] Hi, I'm Mark Seal, product specialist with Taylor Guitars, and today we're going to be
talking about the new T5Z from Taylor.
I'm at GearFest 2015 at Sweetwater Sound in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
I've got the new T5Z with me, and basically the new design features a more radiused fretboard
and a smaller design.
It's a little bit easier for electric guitar players.
We have three on-board pickups, a neck pickup, a bridge humbucker, and a body sensor with
a five-way pickup selector switch.
T5 stands for T, thin line, [Cm] 5 for that five-way pickup selector switch.
We have three controls, volume, bass, and treble, and they're active, which means we
can add to or subtract from each one of those parameters.
In position one, it's our most acoustic, where we feature the neck pickup and the [G] body sensor.

[C] [Em] For position two, we feature the neck pickup [Fm] exclusively.
You can get sounds Telecaster-like, even Stratocaster-like, so when you're doing those top 40 gigs or any
gig that requires a lot of versatility, you can pull [Gm] those sounds out.

[D] As [C] [G] [D]

[A] we move to position three, we're featuring the humbucker exclusively.
Any of those Les Paul sounds, or even 335 sounds, we can get with this position.
[C] [G] [D]

[E] [Em]
[E]
In position four, we feature our neck pickup and our bridge pickup running what we call
parallel, which means both pickups are hitting the preamp at the same time.
Creates a very warm tone, great for any kind of chord comping.

[E] [Em]
[Dm] [Em] [Dm]
[D] [Eb]
In position five, we feature the neck pickup and the bridge pickup.
This time we're running series, which means one pickup runs through the other.
This is great for searing lead tones and a really warm [E] distortion.
