Have you ever loved [Am] somebody?
I actually requested it, [Eb] but they told me that I was singing [G] it before I even requested it.
So I'm so glad that it worked out well [Bm] for me.
I wanted to do that song.
That's one of my [Am] favorites.
It's [Em] great.
I mean, when they asked me, I [Gb] automatically said yes,
because me and Freddie kind of go back, you know.
We ran into [F] each other a lot in the business.
[Ab] We used to sing at a sugar bar in New York.
It was Ashford & Simpsons Club.
They still have it.
It's a restaurant club.
And they have an open mic and a band.
We used to run into each other all the time there.
So we go way back.
[Gb] What is it like to do a tribute?
You have to do it your own [D] way, because you can't sing it like Freddie.
I'm trying to find my own way to do it.
At rehearsal, I was sort of singing it like him.
[Em] But I believe it's sort of finding your own thing.
[E] You know, you can't.
[F] Freddie's bad.
You [Em] can't duplicate that.
[C] You know, when I was a kid, I loved to sing.
It's all [F] I did.
So I wasn't surprised when it happened.
I'm actually really [G] thankful and blessed that I'm still able to do it today,
performing at venues like this.
That's all I know how to do.
I [B] can't flip a burger.
I can't do anything.
All [Eb] I know how to do is sing.
So I've been blessed to be able to make a living doing what I love.
[Gm] When I was in the business, when I was younger,
it was more work for me than
[E] I didn't actually start to live my life until I left the business.
[D] And that's
you don't want to do that.
So you do make a lot of sacrifices in the business,
but you have to stay humble and you have to live that normal [Gb] life.
That's what I do now.
It keeps me grounded.
[Gb] I don't believe [F] in being treated special or being entitled
just because you have a talent.
And I had to get over that.
I wasn't always like that.
I was a brat.
But I would just say
and really, just love yourself.
You have to just be one with yourself.
It's really important.
[Ab] You know, [Cm] live to be happy.
Live to be happy.
[Ab] [B] I don't care what you're doing.
There's a [Ab] lot of people that are going to try to tell you who you are
[Fm] or try to convince you who you [Eb] are.
When you go home, [F] away from all that, you need to be happy with [Db] what's going on with you.
