[G] [F] [G] [N] What's up you guys, you're here at Robb Squad Reactions on Female Friday with your girl
Amber and your boy James.
Film Friday on Robb Squad Movie Reactions.
Make sure you guys go check that out because we got a movie dropped in today that came
so highly recommended from this channel.
We have to do it on that channel so make sure you don't miss that.
For sure, it's definitely a feel good flick.
But today we're here for a new artist and I know that makes you feel good.
We're listening to Mary Hopkins.
This is an artist from the 60s and the song is Those Were The Days.
I'm sorry.
For those of you that are new on Female Friday, I never know what we have until I come back
in the studio.
Mom has it all set up.
Mary Hopkins.
Those Were The Days.
I have no idea what we're getting into.
Do I get a time period?
It's the 60s.
Late 60s.
Alright, so.
68.
Love song.
Gonna be a very airy, beautiful voice.
That's my guess.
You're just like throwing a shot in the dark.
Let's get it.
Okay.
[C#m] [Bm] [E]
[Bm] [C#] [F#m]
[F#m]
Once upon a time there was a tavern where [F#]
we [G#m] used to [F#] raise a [Bm] glass or two.
Remember?
[F#m] [G#] Think of all the great things we [C#] would do.
Those were the [F#m] days, my friend.
We [B] thought they'd never [Bm] end.
We'd sing [E] and dance forever.
[A] Today.
We'd live [Bm] the life we choose.
[E] We'd fight [F#m] and then [Dm] [Em] [G#m] ensure it.
[C#]
[D] [F#m] [F#]
[Bm] [C#]
[F#m]
Just tonight I stood before the tavern.
[F#]
Nothing seemed the way [Bm] it used to be.
In the glass I [B] saw a [F#m] strange reflect
[G#] [C#] in me.
Oh my god.
[N] How can you have such a soft voice with so much power behind it?
It's so hot.
And so, the way that she's able to hold those.
Like I said, her voice, it's very soft to me.
It's very delicate, but it has power behind it.
It's the voices that are delicate that have that power.
That's two perfect words I think I would also use to describe her voice.
One thing I think is cool is like, well I guess I could just say, it's a very sad song.
It's like reminiscing on the past, but in a way that it's like you miss it.
Like a very sad reflection.
Like for a minute you got kind of an eerie kind of background sound.
The undertone is even sad.
And then for a second you get like, I don't know what that deal is, but you get like the
Italian kind of sound.
I was thinking the same thing.
I was like, I definitely get an Italian vibe in the instruments.
But yeah, it's definitely, you know, I love songs that's about reminiscing on the past.
But this is definitely a take on it that's like, okay, like it's a sad, very sad thing.
And the way that she's holding those notes, that was kind of haunting.
Yes, that adds on to it.
So like, even though the music has the undertone, the way that she holds it out makes it even
more haunting and eerie.
I [C#] like it.
She has a really good voice.
Let's get back.

have a question for those who are more musically inclined and have more musical knowledge,
of course, than we do, who are really on this journey of learning.
That had to have been an extremely difficult song to sing.
I mean, think about it.
It was, you know, over four minutes, but you mentioned the way she stretched her notes out.
And then at the end she was doing the da-da, you know what I mean?
It was just never ending with very few breath between.
It was like she had to have stamina or endurance to sing.
And I'm using that as like the coaching aspect, stamina, endurance.
That's what I would imagine she would have to have to sing this song.
That part is honestly astounding to me.
The whole thing to me, the vocal arrangement that she had, like I said, she is up there,
up there, up there in that vocal range.
And just the way that she would carry it out.
The da-da-da was beautiful.
Oh my goodness.
Guys, Mary Hopkins, y'all are going to have to drop some more down in the comments.
Because I really liked her voice.
I liked the whole setting of this, the vibe.
It kind of had the mysterious part, but then it had the part where it kind of got a little
bit of fun where you could dance to.
She's definitely like, intriguing.
She's intriguing and mysterious for sure.
I'm really ready to see what else you guys suggest for her.
Because this one was just, just the whole undertone of it was so cool.
And she had such a cool voice.
I can't wait to listen to more.
Thank you guys so much for suggesting.
