Good?
Yeah, I think so.
What is it?
Like three chords and the truth or whatever they say?
[A#] There's way more than [E] three chords, but at least I was telling the truth.
[C#m] [E]
[B] I lived in the studio for three months.
It's not really how I remember it.
And now I'm thinking that if we made the record now here, it [E] maybe sounds different.
There's a [C] swan over there.
[E]
On the record is the first time we tried to play it.
It's actually been quite difficult trying to reproduce that again
because it was [B] defined by the amount of inconsistencies and things [E] we got wrong.
[C#m] [E] I struggle with where I spent like really [C#] significant portions of my life in one particular place.
And then I have to leave it.
We've been in a band longer than we've been people.
Why people don't speak their [D#] mind is because they have a secret to reveal.
I want to make a band [B] that is bigger than me.
People are often confused as to how we've stayed together for so long
or like why we've stayed together for so long.
It's because the alternative is something that we don't even remotely understand.
It's a really difficult thing to try and describe because I don't see a lot of separation between myself and them.
I'm sure they'd hate that idea.
Lost would be heart, [B] I would be courage, Ham would be brain and George would be leg.
[E] That was the hardest thing about writing All I Need To Hear because I had to be willing to say
Just figuring it out.
Because there's a lot of that on this record.
That sounds like a pretentious thing to say but there's a lot of figuring stuff out musically,
philosophically, emotionally.
Well it always is.
[B] That's what art is isn't it?
But [E] you know, I suppose what you really need [B] is all a facade.
None of this is real.
Look.
I'm not here by myself, talking to myself.
There's like six people here.
You can't go into an environment and expect actually real stuff if you're trying to make a piece of art.
[N] That's good then.
[B]
[F#]
[B]
[E]
[G#m] [F#] [B]
[G]
[B] [E]
[C#m]
[E] [B]
I'm not here by myself.
I can't [E] have my record when [C#m]
you [B] go away.
When [D#] people [E] are talking,
[C#m] [C#] I wish what they say.
[E] [B] It [E] all means nothing, [D#] my dear.
[G#m] If I can't be [C#] holding you near, [C#m] just tell me love.
[F#] Cause that's all [B] I need to hear.
[E] [B] I [E] sit in my kitchen, [C#m] [C#m] with nothing [B] to eat.
[E] [B]
With so [E] many friends I [C#m]
don't [B] want to meet.
[E]
[B] Cause [E] I don't need music in [D#] my ears.
[G#m] I don't need the crowds [C#] and the cheers.
[C#m] Oh just tell me you love me.
[F#] Cause that's all I [B] need to hear.
[C#] [F#m] I've [B] been told [E] so many times [A] before.
[A] But [B]
[F#] hearing it from [G#m] you, [F#] means much [E] more.
[Em] So much more.
[B] [E] [B]
A part [E] of my message.
[C#m] [C#] Pick up [B] my call.
See I [E] wrote you a letter.
[C#m] You're so [B] used to it all.
No [E] I don't care if you're [D#]
[B] insincere.
[G#m] Just tell me what I [C#] want to hear.
[C#m] You know where to find me.
[C#] The place where [D#] we lived [G#m] all these [G] years.
[B] [C#] Just
[C#m] tell me you love me.
[F#] That's all I [B] need to hear.
[F#] [C#]
[G] [C#m] Oh tell me you love me.
[F#] That's all I need [B] to hear.
