We listened a lot more on this album.
[Bb] We took longer to make this record [Gb] than we did on I Love You.
[B] So there was a lot of time away [C] from the [G] studio listening and [Bb] discussing.
More [C] of that than [G] actually in the studio working and adding [A] parts.
Another big difference between I Love You [Bb] and The Carpenter [G] is probably [A] a few hundred shows.
Each of these [D] shows feel almost like, I don't know, [Ab] like baptisms or something.
I never feel like the same person after that I [G] do before.
[Ab] So a few hundred of those will certainly take its toll [G] on your style and your approach.
We try to embrace the fact that we're going to be very different people between one record to the next.

How can I [E] find you?
Cause [Abm] I want to send you and more.
[Dbm] I want to tempt you and more.
[E] Can you tell [B] that I am [Ebm] alive?
Let me [E] prove it.
Would you and [B] I look [Abm] the same?
That's [Dbm] how I look the [Gb] same.

We noticed in [Ebm] 2002, [A] 2003, 2004,

[Abm] that there were a lot of bands
[B]
not doing [A] exactly what we're doing,
but there were banjos out there.
There were upright basses out there.
And it seems like [Ab] now,
[Bb] that has bubbled up to the surface.
Whatever that genre [B] may be called,

[B] And we're part of that, and Mumford's part of that,

They're all different in their own ways,

We've added [B] yet another member,

[B] We feel like a full band now, I think, finally.
Free Scott and Seth up a lot
to experiment with doing different things,
[Bb] and now we're kind of reimagining songs in ways,
old [A] songs in ways we haven't played them before.
And when we go to rehearse for [B] the next record,
[A] it's going to be a whole [Bb] different phase of the band.
We [B] can't fully process what it's doing for us [Ab] or to us yet either.
It's just something that's feeling natural,
and we try to go with what's [A] natural in the [Ab] growth of the band.
But we're big on [A] collecting tools if we can.
Anything that can expand what we [Ab] might be able to do
or might be able to envision and see come into fruition with [G] the band.
And [Ab] Paul adds to that, Joe Quan adds [G] to that,
Jacob Edwards adds to that quite a [A] bit.
We don't know what [Db] we can do, all 6 of us [G] together,
but it's certainly exciting to [B] think about.
