Really [G] looking out how far do you not [D] go back? _
Many a [G] year many a year.
I guess about seven years [D] for the four of us Debbie and I go [G] back
_ _ _ [D] Being family
_ _ [G] _ _ _ [Am] How did it come together?
[D] _ well
There's [G] the old ad in the paper though [D] Yeah
Special ad in the paper that [G] Susanna was running in Vicky and I [D] had this band going it didn't quite work out [G] and
Called up soon said hey, [D] Susanna.
Well actually sue called
[G]
My [D] roommate who gonna get technical?
Yes, right [G] sue called my roommate this gets real [D] confused then
didn't answer the [B] phone because she was in her room meditating, so [D] I answered the phone and
[G] Suzanne and I spoke [D] at length and _
[G] Connected on a cosmic level and [D] we decided to join up space, but we work together well and a lot
_ [E] Writing we're rehearsing.
We're about to go into the studio
When we get home we get home and _
We're just constantly you know with each other and [G] growing and learning, and I think it's a real [D] good experience
But then we also have outside [G] friends which is very nice
[E] _ We grew up in the valley in the valley
We [D] didn't and no one talked like that the valley and the beach people sort of migrated together and became one
Sort [B] of ended up with just like you know stupid accent _
_ _ _ [D] Yeah
It [A] _
_ was a
[Bm] From _ the beach actually [G] yeah, what are the kind of things you [E] do with your other friends?
Oh, is [B] it that you perhaps couldn't do with the members of the band?
[A] _ have sex
_ _ _ _ Yeah, that's one
_ [G] You do [D] there's wonderful oceans
_ California [E] you surf the classic [D] California thing to do
[G] _ _ _ [D] Body sir, but [G] not
_ Boogie [D] board what's that?
_ _ [Am] Short surfboard and you [D] take it out there
So [G] you lay on under some more controls and body sir
[D] _
It's [G] fine.
That's an early way and like [D] ride it to the shore you need a tail
I the bangles is pretty much a kind of a 60s name isn't it I mean bangles [E] themselves came from the 60s
[G] _ _ _ _ _
That's
Well by that state we're [D] floored because we were the original name of the band was the [N] supersonic bangs
which was taken from a
1965 Esquire magazine that my brother had with Ed Sullivan wearing a beetle wig on the cover [D] and there was a whole series of
_ [F] Hairdo's listed and one of them was the supersonic bang since we all have supersonic bangs
Oh, I see these are bones, but but we changed that after five minutes of being the supersonic bangs
We decided it might be too long.
It's a we were so we streamlined it and we were the [G] bangs
for a while
_ But we [D] didn't realize it had certain connotations over here.
Oh sure we we knew that but we were just the same connotations over there
[G] Oh, yeah, we actually like that part, but but then we leave we were forced to change [Db] our name to the bangles
I say [G] you see you're engrossed in that what books that this one is death of a rolling stone
[D] _ A cheery [G] little number.
Yeah, it's no it's very sad.
It's the Brian Jones story.
It's a _
_ [Dm] _ Have you [G] picked up on 60s stuff is it kind of second generation we were listening to the radio
We just were like four years old
So we were a little too young to go to the clubs our parents wouldn't let us go to the whiskey a go-go
We were where's that hard days night book?
We were demanding actually to see help even hard days night was something a [Ab] little bit before our [G] time although
Vicki and [D] Debbie have it memorized and they can recite the entire movie if you ask them to _ _
Vicki
_ _ _ [G] But anyway _
But that was sort of we were heavily into the Beatles
_ Everybody was he still you still listen to Beatles records.
I do
_ Yeah, [Em] what what does it go through phases where you listen to a particular LP?
Um, _ [D] I could listen to the same songs over and [E] over again and never ever get tired of them the early [B] stuff and I feel [G] fine
She's a woman [D] era was I [A] think that that was my favorite era.
Yeah for them
[E] How does this manifest itself in the bangles [G] now?
_ I?
Mean other things sound like lover boy _
_ _ _ Yeah, well they're on our label I did say that a
_ Love a book love a boy or anything, but a 60s band.
Am I right?
Yeah, that was what I was trying to say
_ What does this mean a great job?
Well this girl film and TV annual?
_ _ _ _ That's Adam Faith, it was a big star over here in the [D] 60s who were your idols when you were little boys you fancy
I was [G] Billy mummy Billy.
Do you know who he is?
No, who's that?
He was not in Lost in Space that TV show he wait he started a band
He had a band for a while that George Martin produced really yeah, who did you say? _ _
George Harrison, actually my my first crush was Mighty Mouse, but
_ From there on I work, you know, [D] I went to the actual flesh and blood [G] people.
I
Love George. _
I
Still love George [D] the bangles ever done any sort of 60s covers.
I mean my granites.
What have you done?
Well our new song hazy shade of winter, but we've done pushing too hard by the seeds
What else we do a yard bird song?
Yeah, I'm not talking _
We're forgetting a bunch I know
Who is it?
Who is it who decides then who in the band picks those?
We all do whoever can sing it and play it without
_ Who ever can actually sing it and play it at the same time gets to sing it.
That's pretty much how it [D] works
_ _ Look at this guy.
[G] Oh, man.
Do you remember him?
I don't
_ [E] _ _
_ Barry Coe, maybe he was before our time to [D] certainly before.
Yeah, I think [Bb] that's fair to say
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [N] _
