The Ben Fuller Story - 3 Minute Testimony chords
Start Jamming...
[G] Home [C] was a small town called Perkinsville, Vermont.
I was a troubled kid inside.
[G]
[D] I hit a lot of things.
I didn't have a lot of [C] people to open up to.
[F] I was always somebody that everybody loved and everybody liked, [C] and I was a popular kid
in school [G] and dated [D]
[Em] beautiful girls.
And I was, you know, on the outside it all looked good, a captain of the football team,
all those [D] things.
But on the inside, I was a giant wreck.
My [C] father and I had a tough relationship, and only in the [F#] sense that I just had a hard
time relaying love, I think.
[G] And so I [C] had a hard time [Em] receiving that.
And [Bm] I would take those things and internalize them.
So at a young age, 18, 19 years old, I [Em] had found out about cocaine.
[G] So I went on a giant 15 [C]-year using bend.
[D] [C] I didn't grow up in church.
[G] My family, we went to church for funerals and weddings.
I learned to play guitar in college, and that became an outlet for me.
[C] [G] I moved down here in the fall of 2018 for country music, and I was drinking heavily,
out of control, drinking and driving a lot, still using, [C] still taking advantage of women.
[D]
It all just led up to so many different things.
I had a family, believe it or not, God had sent a family from Vermont [F#] a [C] year and a half
ahead of me to be down here to earn my trust, to then invite me [G] to church [C]
in the fall, winter of 2019.
And I walked in to Church of the City in Franklin, Tennessee here.
I'll [G] never forget Chris McClarnie, John Reddick, we're leading worship.
[C]
All of my hope is in the name, the name of Jesus.
And I just [G] had all I could do to not fall on my knees.
I have a song called Other Plans, which isn't released yet, but I hope to, and it talks
about my brush with suicide when I was 16 years [C] old.
[G] And I'd been in some of those lowest, darkest places, and he allowed me to open up and finally
share with everybody about all those things that had been burdening me for so many years.
The old man's laying on the ocean [D] floor, the new [G] man's standing on redemption shore.
I've been revived, I've been restored, and I can't go back no [C] more, no [G] more.
I lost my best friend in 2017 to a heroin overdose, and it was one of the hardest things
to get over and one of the hardest things to cope with, to know that it could have been me.
And he laid it on my heart that it's my job to tell his story [C] and mine and just [F#] let people
know [C] that [G] there is hope, that there's always [C] hope, and it's in Jesus.
And [G] I never thought in a million years I [C] would say that out loud.
