Alrighty, well I got the finger picks out, let me play you my all time favorite Simon
and Garfunkel song, it's called The Boxer and it came out in 1969 on their last album
they did together, which was the Bridge Over Treble Waters album.
And it's the first song I heard on the radio album that I'm not heard of.
I was so excited because I knew there was another Simon and Garfunkel record coming.
I really wanted to learn that song the instant I [N] heard it, loved it ever since, it's an
absolute classic and one of the best songs ever written as far as I'm concerned.
So again I'll have to ask for your help if you know the Art Garfunkel part, he's not
here today again so if you want to sing along feel free, I'll do the other part on the guitar
and we'll do it together, it's called The Boxer.
[C]
I am just a poor boy, and all my stories seldom [Am] told.
I [G] have squandered my resistance, for a pocket full of mumbles such [C] a man says.
[G] All I see [Am] is still a [G] man, he is what [F] he wants to hear, and disregards [C] the rest.
Hmmm, Hmmm When I left my home and my family,
no more [G] than [Am] a boy in [G] the company of strangers, quiet of the railway [C] station, running scared.
[G] Laying [Am] low seeking [G] out the [F] poor reporters, where the ragged people [C] go.
Looking for the places [F] only they would know.
La la [Am] lai, la [Em] la lai la lai la lai la [Am] lai la [G] lai la lai la lai la [C] lai la lai la lai la lai.
Asking only workman's wages, I come looking [Am] for a job but I get [G] no offer.
Just to come on from the horizon, [C]
7th Avenue.
I [Bm] do [Am] declare there [G] were times when [F] I was so lonesome I took some [C] comfort there.
[G] La lai, la [Am] lai lai [Em] la lai la lai [Am] lai lai lai lai lai lai la lai la lai la [C] lai la lai lai lai.
Now the years are rolling by me, they are rocking [Am] easily.
I [G] am older than I once was, younger than I'll be, that's not unusual.
No it [Am] isn't strange, [G] after changes upon [F] changes we are more or less [C] the same.
[G] After changes we are [Fm] more or less the [C] same.

I'm laying out my winter clothes, wishing I [Am] was home, [G] going home.

bleeding [Am] me, [G] going home.

In the clearing stands a boxer, he's defied by [Am] his trade [G] and he carries the reminders
of every club that's laid him [C] down or cut him till he cried out in his anger and [Am] his shame.
[G] I am leaving, I [F] am leaving, but the fighter still [C] remains at [G] home.
