[Fm] Alright guys, I've got another great budget pedal for you to check out today.
I got a request to do the cheapest wah pedal that I [E] could find, and this is it right here.
This is the Daphon wah wah pedal.
You can get this on eBay for a little under $30.
I got this one for about $28.99.
Now I'll get to the playing clips in just a second, but there's a few things I want
to point out here.
First of all, it's got the input and output jacks actually on the front of the pedal,
which is a little bit odd.
Of course, they're usually on the side.
I almost thought when I first tried this out that it would kind of get in the way, like
your foot is actually going to hit the cables, but I didn't actually have that problem.
It does look a little weird when you have the cables coming up out of the pedal, but
it ended up not really getting in the way, which was a pleasant surprise.
Now as far as the operation of this pedal, it's just like a Dunlop Crybaby.
So you step on the pedal to turn it on, and then step on it to turn it off again.
On the front of the pedal, right between the input and output jacks, there's a 9V DC power
supply jack, but this jack is a little strange, and it's not going to take a standard generic
9V power supply.
But you can run this pedal off of an internal 9V battery, and incredibly, even for less
than $30, this comes with a battery.
Alright, for a wah pedal this cheap, I'm really curious as to how it sounds, so let's go ahead
and check out the playing clips.

So this pedal actually had a pretty interesting sound.
It wasn't quite as piercing as a Crybaby would sound.
It was a little thicker and a little beefier sounding than that.
But at the same time, it didn't have the thickness and bottom end that like a Morley pedal would have.
This pedal kind of splits the difference, and it actually reminded me a lot of a Vox Wah.
Now aside from the odd placement of the input and output jacks, there's two major downsides
to this pedal that I could find.
One is that in order to replace the 9V battery, you have to take the entire backplate off,
which includes taking these rubber feet off.
And also, the backplate is the only part of this pedal which is metal.
Everything else is plastic.
So I am a little skeptical when it comes to the durability of this pedal.
That being said, it worked great when I was practicing and doing this review.
So if you're looking for a first wah pedal to get used to the use of the effect, or if
you want something that you're really only going to use to record, this pedal will probably work fine.
But when it comes to doing live playing and gigs, the plastic construction might not be that good.
So there you go.
This is the cheapest wah pedal on the market right now, and it actually sounds pretty good.
And personally, I think a wah pedal is a really great effect to have.
My top three effects are delay, wah, and then of course some kind of distortion or overdrive.
What do you guys think?
Do you like wah pedals?
Or do you think maybe they're overused by rock and metal players?
Alright guys, that's it for today.
