And [F#] I'm gonna go to baby sister right now.
This [G#] woman is just a phenomenon in music totally.
Not just in gospel [D#m] music, she's just a phenomenon.
[G#m] I don't hear nobody here.
[C#m] When you, across the board, no matter where you go,
when you talk to the artists, you talk to Aretha [F#] Franklin,
you talk to all of these major artists,
Patti LaBelle, [Bm] I sit with all of them
and their main [G#] thing is Karen Clark Sheard.
She has an ability to sing like [D#] nobody else [G#] I've ever seen or heard in my life.
There's very few people that carry that type of anointing.
Not just gifts, but that kind of anointing.
[B] And not too long ago we almost lost you.
[C#m] But it was by the power of prayer and the will of [F#m] God
that God extended your [B] life on the beautiful [G#] earth. Thank you.
[F#] And your [Bm] husband sits here and I'm, and stop all that stuff.
Y'all wait till you hear this.
Stop all that, don't do that here.
[F#] I ain't married yet.
[Dm] [G#]
[E] But [Bm] the anointing that you [F#] carry, Karen, it's unique.
[Bm] What is it, I should ask a question, what does it feel like being Karen Clark?
But what does it entail?
What does it take for you to have this kind of responsibility
and have to carry it and keep the balance of [F#] it?
With people hailing you and people applauding [Bm] you
but you never allowing it to become a part of you.
And always going back to being [F#] Karen, [Bm] wife, mother, first lady.
Tell us about that.
I think I can reiterate what my sister was talking about
in regards to my mom starting at the roots.
And she used to always say,
you're not going to go out there and sing before God's people
and [A#] not represent him.
You have to live what you [G#] sing about.
And that was one of the things, she used to cancel our engagements
and see us fussing and we [G#m] have an argument between us
and she said, no, cancel that one, y'all ain't ready.
Because she knew that God wasn't going to get the glory
with y'all having mess up in here.
[C#m] And I admire her for that and [A#] that stuck with me for [D#] years.
She always said, when you get on that floor
and [F] sing it [Gm] before God's people,
[G#] you want his [Gm] anointing to be before you
[B] because there's yokes out [C#m] there to be broken [A#] and destroyed.
And that's one thing that I always remember
is that I'm careful about every step that I make.
[C#m] I'm making it known to [C#] myself.
[A#] Even though sometimes we get off the airplane,
but I know I'm a pastor's wife.
And I got to get that word in me.
I got to go [G#] there, even though I'm an artist,
I got to go there and sit like I'm a lay member
[N] and get the word in me so I can know how to put out.
And that's one of the [G#] things that my mother taught us
that we got to [C#] have word and that's one of the things
that my husband put in me [B] is that
you have to have something to say to people
because these days you got folk out there that know the word
and they know God.
Scripture says, try the spirit by the spirit.
And I want you to know that, Brother Donnie,
that going through what I went through in regards to my [G#] sickness
and God giving me a second chance,
but the doctors gave me a 2% chance.
[C#] And going through [D#m] all of that, I thank God for,
you know, every now and then you have to go through,
it's like [G#m] a tea bag.
You put that tea bag in [C#] hot water
[A#] and that's when [G] the flavor comes out.
And [D#] every now and [B] then you might have to go through
some hot [G#m] water out there,
but you don't know what [F#] God is putting in you
to [B] bless somebody else.
[F#m] And that's why I'm glad I believe that God left me here.
Hallelujah.
So [G#m] that I found out that my misery became my [C] ministry.
And I believe that [B] that's why I'm here today
because ministry is going forth
and that's the most [F#] important thing.
[C#m] Now that, and I'm trying [Bm] to keep this thing on track,
but this is [B] what we're talking about.
We're talking about the power of the living God in us.
Christ in us, the hope of glory.
[F#]
[G#m] Well, we can't even die until we're done
[F#m] doing what God's called us to do.
[B] That kind of anointing that death [F#] can't even grab [B] ahold of you.
That [D#] kind of mission,
all [C#m] my meals,
that kind [A] of mission and ministry
[G#m] where Satan and the plans and the people
and the traps that he has set up
have got to [F#m] take a back seat
because the anointing you carry out
is too powerful.
But even [Bm] the [B] demonic power is holding you.
You've got an assignment,
[A] you've got a mission
that the powers of [G] hell can't [C] interrupt.
And [F#m] God will be for you.
The Bible says if God is for you,
[B] if God is for you,
[C] [F#m] who can be against you?
[G#m] And that is the way the Christians,
I'm sorry, this is the part,
but [F#] that is [F#m] the way Christians live.
We have the [C#m] authority
[C#] that if our job is not done,
[D#] we can look at sickness and say,
[B] back up, [G] I've got some more to [C#] accomplish.
[F#] I've got some more souls that have got the ages through me.
[C#m] And you've got the power to overcome
the power of the enemy that's come to overcome [B] you.
And, [F#m] okay, I'm [G] sorry.
[F] [D#m]
[F] [G] No, [G#m] no, [A#m] no.
[Bm] But [C#] this is [C#m] what we're talking [D] about.
The [N] power of the gospel
that crosses every boundary,
that crosses every area
and reaches people right where they are.
