[E]
Welcome back, folks.
The [Abm] departed, This [D] Music Scene supergroup,
has put together an awesome second album,
and this time, it's all original music.
We sat down with the band to get the complete inside story behind Adventus.
[A]
[Am] [G] [C] [F] [G]
[Am] [B] [C] [G]
[C] Coming off Indian land, instead of putting a record out
immediately and it being rushed, it's through Indian land.
[G] A new band, a new act for all of us, and it was that vibe.
Move on to the next [C] project, two years of writing.
So now, this vibe, it was going into a studio
to prove what [G] we are, what we have become.
It was really euphoric for all of us to [C] bounce ideas off each other
and then feel what the band has actually turned into,
and it's exactly what we thought [G] was going to happen, you know,
with sharing leads and sharing vocals, and it was really
stepping up and trying to prove what we are.
[Bb] This new record is [Gm] what we're really [C] all about.
[F] The new writing of the songs has [D] just been the experiences [G] of us
being on the road, [D] a new band, putting this thing together.
[Am] [B] I'm your [C]
love
[G]
Don't you [Am] let your
I [C] [F] [G] ain't She's Your
[Am] I [C]
[G]
ain't
[C] And it really shows the true meaning of this band,
there's no doubt about it.
It shows everybody's individual talents and [G] strengths.
We've spent hours outside of the studio
just rehearsing [C] these songs, [F] just making the general directions
of where we were going to go whenever it came to the recording process.
[D] I've loved every [G] minute of it.
Better get [Gm] right, better get right
[D] Better get right [F] before the Lord [G] gets ready
I knew [Gm] from the second that Cody called me
that that's [G] what we were going to be, a rock & roll band
and play rock & roll music, [D] because [F] that's what we all want to do,
and we just thought, [Gm] God, this is the perfect opportunity for that.
The songs were the most important [F] thing to all of us,
but for me it was, [Em]
you know, write something different
and [D] interesting and [Am] honest as [Bb] far as all of our influences
and the way [E] we all, all the stuff we listen to and like,
I think it's all in there, I think we've got it all inside there.
[A]
Gather your wonder
Hard [D] [A]
[E] to [A] worry
[E] if it's worth the [D] fight
Too [A] worried if it's worth the fight
[E] Plato has the same thing.
You can tell he's playing based on this record,
mainly just because he wrote the songs, [F] you know, [E] was involved in it,
and you can just really hear his influence, and we're all being ourselves.
Worth the Fight, I just kind of walked in on Seth,
just kind of tooling around with it in the back of the bus.
I'm not very good at this whole songwriting thing,
but I try to contribute whenever I can,
[A] and it was just the right time, I guess, and it happened.
And then we all came together and made it really meaty
and really in-your-face [E] rock & roll, you know,
and it's like [A] a sucker [E] punch to the face about 8 times.
[A] [E]
[D] [A]
Amazing, worth the fight
[E] [A]
[E] [A]
So when [D] people ask now, you know, [A] how I got here and why I'm here,
[D] the short version is, well, I wasn't here when the band started,
but I got here as quick as I could, like the [E] bumper stickers that talk about [A] Texas.
Seth said, [C] Chris Deggie, [Eb] he said he [F] was the only drummer I didn't fire,
so we knew he [C] was good, you know.
[Cm]
And we were [F] looking for that, that I [C] always said to Phil Rudd,
keep it in a [Cm] pocket like a Charlie [F] Watts thing and play here,
like stir [C] the pot, you know, and do this every [Bb] now and then,
but just don't start off like this.
And Chris is that [Am] Phil Rudd,
keeping it [Bb] jamming, keeping it driving, keeping it moving.
Most [C] of the songs on the record [Bb] have that energy
that a lot of the [A] old Ragweed fans were missing.
[Bb] I'm real happy to be part of that high [C]-energy music
that built up the [Cm] fan base that they [Eb] had
and give [Bb] them the energy that we're missing.
[F]
[C] [Eb]
[F] [C] I [Eb] [F]
[Bb] think [C] harmonies are very important.
I don't know how to do [Eb] them.
That's why Jeremy's the [F] master at it.
But the [C] call and response thing [Eb] to me is, [E] it's not a duet,
it's talking [A] about something,
and [C] it's almost the inner thoughts at the same [A] time.
[E] Like, Burden's line is, why do I [Db] go through the trouble,
why do I even [C] try, and why do you even try is [E] another voice.
Cody was [A] picking up certain lines, [C] you know,
just kind of by [E] accident while we were rehearsing it or writing it,
and that's really kind of [A] how the demo went down,
and we just kind of [C] fell in love with it that way.
[E] Cody's always wanted to do that kind of call and response thing,
[C] and we just really kind of did it on [D] accident.
[E] Almost everything that happens in this band is an accident.
[G] Why [A] do I go through [E] the trouble,
[G] why do [A] I [E] even try?
I'm proud of what we've [G] done.
I think we've put out a [A] fine recording,
and [E] all the styles from rock to maybe [G] something country,
it's all [A] kind of a [E] collaboration of the time that we've been spending,
and I think we've [C] got it documented on tape.
