thing that happened.
We all sort of learned how to play acoustic guitars.
And what [C] else
are you going to play?
It was sort of like that.
What kind of music are you going to
play?
You're going to play whatever comes naturally to you, [G] whatever you grew up with.
And so it wasn't like a conscious decision to do old time fucking Americana or anything
[C] like that.
It was just what we started playing.
[G]
The reason I played the accordion [C] is because Simon played guitar, [G] Ian played guitar, I
played [C] guitar, Simon's going to have to stop [G] playing guitar.
[Cm] And a [G] friend of ours, [C] she
had [G] an accordion, just laying [Ab] around.
And I took [C] it.
And I broke it, actually.
Pretty
quickly.
I gave it back [G] to her, but I fucked it up.
[C] Yeah, I just started playing it, man.
I [G] always was interested in the instrument.
And so I just had [C] a good time doing it.
That's
how it happened.
[D] [G]
[C] [Am]
[G] [C] I don't know why people like music.
I think it's good enough.
[Am] Everybody should like it.
I know a lot of old people like it, I know [D] a lot of young [G] people.
Girls [C] like it.
And
kids, the kids like it because it's good.
[Am] We [Bb] like people to go [G] a little crazy.
People
jump on [C] stage sometimes, which is fine, I think, for a minute.
I've kicked people [A] off
the stage, though.
Sometimes [Bm] they're jackasses.
But it's really nice when people have a [N] good
time, climbing on shit, singing along.
I love that stuff, man.
We go overseas, sometimes
we play in Germany, and the great audiences, but they're very, very quiet and reserved.
And I remember the first time we played in Berlin about a year ago, and there was like
500 people in the room, which is a lot of people for us.
And it was quiet, you could
hear a pin drop.
And I've never, you know, play a show in America and there's like six
people there.
It sounds like a fucking rodeo.
But they're very quiet and respectful, and
we thought that we sucked because they weren't making any noise.
But I guess they actually
really [G] liked it.
After the show, everybody seemed really happy with it.
So it's just
different kinds of audiences.
So I like when people sit still and listen, too.
I guess
I'm [Ab] that kind of a guy.
I probably, if I went to a show, I don't go to a lot of shows,
[G] but if I did, I'd probably be one of the quiet guys in the back.
But [Eb] hey, man, [C] whatever you
want, whatever makes you feel good.
