Welcome with me into the Bing Lounge this afternoon.
It is The Fix.
Look at you guys.
Still looking as beautiful as [A] ever, aren't they?
[N] Welcome into the Bing Lounge this afternoon, gentlemen.
It's great to have you.
It's great to have you.
You know what?
I gotta say, first of all,
how wonderful it is to finally actually be able to interview for a while
a band that actually goes back into the industry when the industry was vinyl.
You know what I mean?
That's right.
And there weren't that many plastic implants around either.
Things have definitely changed, but is it possible to even be socially conscious like you guys have been in 2012?
Barely conscious.
[Eb] That'll do.
From acid to Advil.
[Gb] There's different things in the life.
How is it that I've got friends that start off in love with each other,
ten years later, not a go, and you guys, three decades later, here you are [E] like a big family.
Yeah, it's because we don't have to sleep [N] with each other.
[Ab] I love you all, guys.
So we got the new one that just came out.
The Family Does Have a New Baby.
[Am] And I see everybody's names on all the writing credits.
What exactly [Em] is the process that you guys got back together?
It's been, of course, we have the 25th Anthology that came out about five, six years ago.
But this, all new works, went back home, did some recording.
[G] What was it like?
Is it a little bit different getting together with a little bit more?
[Eb] Working a little bit more.
More [F] experience.
And you've been influenced by other things.
Families and music [Db] and all these years.
What's it like to do the new recording?
Well, when times are bad, we get inspired, basically.
It was sh** back then.
And it's sh** again now.
So we thought we'll go to the studio and wave a flag.
I'll tell you what, man.
You guys haven't lost a step.
And [F] the music, also, anyone else?
I just saw the video for that.
Is imagery as important as it was when you guys first started?
Well, not being in the video is more important these days.
What we did with this one is we just gave the song to a video guy and [E] said,
you interpret it your way.
And I think the sort of third, or the objective eye,
gave it a different viewpoint beyond where we were in our heads with the song.
So it's taken on another thing.
In fact, so much that the Westboro Baptist Church
have been [N] tweeting how much they hate it.
So that's a good thing.
That's the level, right?
Now you've got a new bar.
Well, I have to tell you, man, I got to listen to the whole album while I've been waiting to interview you guys
for two weeks just to have you come in and to take a look.
I'm sitting there going, boy, where are they now?
Oh, OK.
They're next to Foreigner.
And they're next to Frampton.
I'm going through my old vinyl.
I'm just going, how wonderful it is to just relive the memories and the music.
And now you guys are giving us a new one.
And the title [Ab] track to Beautiful Friction,
that's a [F] stone cold groove.
I definitely.
Yeah, we'll be doing that one a little later in the [N] set.
Well, let's get that set going once again.
Thank you so much for coming to Portland.
The rest of the city, the rest of the country has been like burning up at 111.
We brought a little bit of a London weather for you today.
