Most of my hobbies are centered around cars.
I've always loved cars.
I've always loved to work on them.
I used to, when I was working in my shop, when I wasn't on the road in Houston, which was the toy shop,
I had a sign outside the shop that said, you know, not a commercial enterprise.
And I had on this sign, Home of Pretty Trucks.
I used to take, and I'd buy wrecked trucks, and I'd fix them, and I'd lower them down, I'd have them pinstriped, I'd paint them,
I'd do whatever I wanted to do to make them really, really sharp looking.
And I got kind of known for [E] that, and I had a lot of people ask me, why do I drive trucks?
Well, because I like trucks, you know.
But I got into drag racing and bought a drag car, quarter mile drag car, and of course, as fast as it was,
it wasn't as fast as I wanted it to be, so I tore it up and started [F#] redoing it and rebuilding the motor and first one [N] thing and another,
and built a car.
It was a Monte Carlo SS, and I built it.
I wanted it to be fast, but I wanted it to be pretty, too.
So I built the car, and before it was ever put on the track, I entered it in the car show at Astro Hall in Houston.
And lo and behold, at one second place, it's modern day achievement to a street machine.
And I've got pictures of it and all that stuff, but before I ever ran the car, I sold it.
I found out it was a money pit, and I didn't have time to mess with it, and my drag racing ended when I finally figured out that they only race on weekends,
and I'm always working on weekends, so I gave up on it.
More than anything else, I like to watch TV.
Conway Twitty and I shared that.
He loved to watch movies and everything, and I do, too.
I like to watch movies.
I like to watch football.
I like to play golf, but I'm just not very good at it.
I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan.
I like the Houston Texans, and I want them to do good, but I wanted the Houston Oilers to do good.
And believe it or not, there's still a little deep feelings for the Titans, the Tennessee Titans.
To me, they're still partially the Oilers, and I like to see them win, and I like to see the Texans win.
But peel it all down, I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan.
I always have been ever since the Tom Landry days, and I guess I always will be.
I've got so many [D#] stories from the road, it's unreal.
Most of them, unfortunately, I can't tell.
But I've been mixed up before on my dates and thumbed a ride in a helicopter to get to a place in West Grove, Pennsylvania, called Sunset Park.
A lot of the fans will remember that.
I've never seen as many cameras flashing in all my life, because I still made it just in time to do the show.
When I got off the helicopter, I flew in a helicopter.
That's a wild story, and I don't know how I really ever convinced that lady.
It was a female helicopter instructor that stopped at this airfield to fuel the helicopter.
She's giving this guy lessons.
And I walked up, and before it was over, I talked her into [N] leaving him standing there and taking me to Sunset Park.
It was an outdoor venue, and she could land out away from the parking lot.
I had on a pair of cutoffs, a t-shirt, tennis shoes, sun shades, and all that.
I left that copter running, and I went through the parking lot, all down through the people, went up the steps and on stage.
The guys were kicking song off.
They saw me coming, and they kicked the song off, and I went right straight to the stage.
And the flash cubes lit up.
