Hello everyone at home, hope you're having a lovely day.
So guys, tell us a little bit about the band.
You want me to tell you a little bit?
Yes please.
Right, okay.
The band started in 1963, we were the Sheratons, and we auditioned for a guy called Joe Meek,
he's a world famous record producer, independent record producer.
And we had the first ever girl drummer in the whole world, Honey Lantry,
and we auditioned for Joe, and we were, as I said, known as the Sheratons,
and Joe decided to call us the Honeycombs, because we were such a sweet [C] band.
[G] And that's where he got the sweetness from, we got Honeycombs,
and [E] the record came [D] out on the Pi [Bb] label, Have I [D] the Right, I'm sure everybody knows.
Everybody knows Have I the Right.
[G] And [A] there's been several incarnations of [Ab] Honeycombs through the years,
but the latest [A] band featuring Chris [F] on bass, Olly lead vocals, Sasha [Am] lead vocals,
they play tambourines as well by [A] the way, and [Bb] back in Bocas, all of them back in Bocas.
Lee, [Em] he's just changed his name,
[Eb] [D] Lee, and [Gm] of course our drummer Jim, Jim Green,
[D] is probably the best [A] line up of the [Dm] Honeycombs that I've ever had, and have the privilege to [A] work with.
They are fantastic, fantastic [N] musicians, otherwise I wouldn't be here standing talking to you now,
if I thought different of any of them.
Well, will you be playing today some of your own songs, are you going to have a few covers,
or just mostly your own material?
You're on the now, actually it'll be most of our own material, but we do do some covers.
But what we do with the covers is we honeycomize them, in other words we make them our own.
You'll recognize them, right, but they'll have a different sound,
and they might be a slightly different rhythm, a different arrangement.
We'll have you on the shoot as well.
That'll be coming from you.
Lovely, and what's your plans for the future with the band, have you got any
We've got people interested in the band from all over the world, because we had number ones,
the band actually had, not this unit as it is now, but the original 64 band.
What were the number ones?
Have I the Right, That's the Way, Is It Because, Something Better Beginning, Love in Tokyo,
thank you for that, I've thought about that one.
So yeah, quite a few, we've sold in total, last count was 22 million.
Wow, that's quite impressive, albums or singles or a mixture of both?
They also had EPs, things called EPs, which you now call, they call them something else,
Maxi Singles.
Maxi Singles.
Maxi Singles, right, were EPs, so we had the mixture of EPs, albums, singles,
around the last count about 10 years ago, 22 million sales.
So with different formats coming out all the time, like DVDs, CDs,
I reckon that total's probably gone up by at least another million or so.
And how are you feeling about the performance today, looking forward to it?
Don't make me laugh.
I look forward to every performance, whether it's paid for or not.
Yeah, of course, [G] yeah, yeah, it's a happy occasion, the world needs some happy occasions,
and we're here to make the street party [F] a happy, hopefully, occasion.
[Em] And did you enjoy the wedding today, [G] did you watch it?
Wedding?
Was there a wedding somewhere?
[C] Yeah, well I saw it [G] on television, [F] because it's history in the making for us all, [G] isn't it?
We're living within the history of what we're watching, which is very unusual.
We don't [Dm] get to know about [G] history as people until [C] many, many years through [Gm] books later [F] on, do we?
I mean, I'll ask the questions now, [G] do we?
Definitely not.
So yeah, we're living with history in the making, isn't [C] it?
So that's it, [F] well, all the best for the performance, I'm looking [G] forward to watching you all.
Bye, bye, [Bb] bye.
Bye.
[Cm] Two wives.
Two [C] wives?
One of them's a husband.
[G]
