[A] [Bm]
[G] [D] [A]
[Bm] [G]
[D] Instinctively, [Bm] we look to [G] survive.
[D] That's on top.
You see the phone?
Oh yeah.
It [Bm] goes
To stay [G] [D] alive.
Break [A] the chains [Bm] of mist.
[D] When we first started writing for the record, things happened pretty quickly.
We thought we'd try something [Bm] a little different this time.
It seemed to work [G] pretty well, and very well, [Cm] actually.
The songs came together really quickly.
[D] Three, four, two, two, three, four.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, [G] oh, oh.
I
[D] [G]
think one of my favorite
[F] songs [G] from the creative [Eb] [C] standpoint is
Sometimes the Night is Wrong.
It started [Fm] with an idea [C] that I was writing when I was 14.
[F] [Am] [G] [C] [F] And on the record, it's probably one of the [Am] most [G] collaborative songs
[C] on the record from what [F] everyone brought in.
[Am] And [G] to kind of have just [C] this little [F] nugget of an idea [Am] grow [G] is [A] [N] really
[E] We didn't plan this, but I'm [Ab] counting.
There's one vest, [Gbm]
two vests, [E] three vests.
It's a [Gb] very festive occasion.
[Eb] [Bb] [C]
[Cm] [Gm]
[Eb] [Gm] [C]
[Cm] Yes, at the Chicken Coop, which I like to call [Bb] my studio, we [Eb] collaborated.
I started writing songs this [Cm] time last year.
Which song was it?
Which song?
[C] Borrowed Wings.
Borrowed Wings?
[G] Yes, another foul reference.
Ha, ha, [Bb] ha, ha, ha.
Flew [C] into the sun [G] and died.
I [Bb] feel like the way this album [C] is so different from our [G] previous albums
is more coming from the vocals.
[Dm] The writing alone, but also the vocal delivery.
I [C] felt like I think everybody kind [G] of maybe sang differently
than maybe they thought they could.
And I feel like [Dm] that's the one thing that really stood out to [C] me is
vocally I was really proud of what we [G] did.
Gravity, [Bb]
we're coming [C] down to the [G] sea.
In the end we're
[N]
all
I mean, sonically it definitely has [E] the Kill Bear stamp [B] on it still,
but this record goes deep.
[Gbm] It has a lot more layers than [G] maybe upon [D] first glance.
[G]
[Bm] [A] [Gbm]
[Dm] [Bm]
[N] We talked about a lot of the nuances and a lot of the sounds of the record.
We're five individuals.
We're all very different.
[G] We take very different backgrounds,
but I think that's probably why we're able to [Gm] make this record.
[Dm] We're [D]
just common enough with each [B] other
to be able to make a [Gm] lot of these elements fit [D] together.
And I think we've done that.
[Bm] It's one [Gm] of those records that it just [D] felt good,
even in the [Am] demo phase [Bm] that Mike mentions or [Gm] whatnot.
It just felt good from the beginning.
[D] [A] I [Bm] [G]
[D] mean, this was a [A] cohesive [Bm] single thing
[G] to be taken in from beginning [D] to end
because it's just [A] like every record.
It's a collection of [Bm] songs.
I mean, that's what [G] any record is.
I love that [D] I've been part of an album,
like a real [A] album.
