The Walk, which is a true [F#] story about a Sudanese [F] refugee.
[G] [F#] This is the most devastating book ever.
So I decided to write a song about it.
[F] I'll just tell you the story, I'll show you the script.
Alright, so [F#] I wrote this song in December
because I felt really desperate that I couldn't do anything to help
[F] the cause of the book.
Because I was just the poorest thing in the summer, I couldn't [N] really do anything.
So I recorded the [F#] song, I recorded it at home in my bedroom
and I sent it to this DJ in Holland.
He works for the Red Cross, I knew he did, so [N] I sent it to him and was like
you know, maybe I should listen to it.
[E] The timing of me sending in the song just [F#] timed out perfectly with this charity campaign
that happens in Holland that raises money for the Red Cross
and he wanted to use this song for this campaign.
[D] [F#m] It was mind-blowing for me, but then what was even more mind-blowing
was the fact [G#] that the song became another one in [G] Holland at that time,
at Christmas, [E] and raised like thousands and thousands of Euros for Red Cross
for the exact cause of what [C#] I wrote the song about.
And it was just like, what the fuck?
[F#] And there was moments where I was like, what?
I can't even believe it.
[E]
Anyway, that was all [F#] amazing and I was really, really honoured to be a part of that charity campaign.
And recently the [E] song has had a little bit of success in the US.
It was on this TV show called Sons of Anarchy.
During this release it had seen a fictional [G] character die.
[A] And what's funny is I had all these hundreds of thousands [G] of views from this TV show
on this [N] video and everyone was like, rest in peace fictional character.
[F] That's so [Fm] sad, this fictional character's dead, I'm not going to be able to sleep [C] at night.
And I was like, you do realise this song is about a Sudanese [G] refugee, don't you?
[A] I was really [F#] happy that people were listening to this song.
I wish [N] they'd know.

I never found my father

Either [C] that I know that in my lifetime I [G] will be
[C] A hero to the massive
To [Em] those poor and without chances
[C] There's a freedom that everyone [G] deserves
I know [C] there's greed and there's corruption
I've [Em] seen death and mass destruction
[C] But I'm telling you and I hope that I [G] am heard
I will not be commanded
I will not be controlled
And [Em] I will not let my future [G] go on

I will not be commanded
