And so those were the tapes they rehearsed off of and it was like [Db] homework for them.
[Abm] I first went to the Delicious Vinyl [Db] office to [Gm] talk to them and they were all there.
I said I had this one [Ab] idea [C] and I just made the tape [G] myself.
I just had the [Ab] tape made and brought it over to them of the song backwards.
And I said my idea is to film a performance video where we shoot it backwards.
But to do that you guys have to learn [Eb] the lyrics.
And I [C] described some of the scenarios that [F] I wanted to do.
Like [B] water and clothes coming off [N] and stuff like that.

I played them the tape and [C] they listened to it and I think it is a real [Bbm] long shot.
Because I don't think [C] they're ever going to want [Ab] to_
It could have easily gone the other way where like nah, and then they just laughed at me.
But they were like no that's cool we can do it.
We can learn that, we can figure that out. _
_ _ [D] _ [Bb] They [D] can't swallow, they [Db] can't swallow the truth because it hurts.

Concept of the video, backwards.
Words backwards.
We had to hire a private linguist and _ coach this.
Private.
Yeah we had to hire a private one.
It's like learning a different language like German, French and all the languages all together.
That's kind of easy for me because I'm real smart, you know what I'm saying.
I'm really intelligent so I know how to do that kind of stuff.
Okay well it wasn't really that much of a problem being from the planet.

_ [N] _ _ I've _ _ never done either a transcription [D] for a rap group or a [Eb] transcription backwards of anything.
[D] There's a lot of work that linguists do that [G] sort of prepares you for that [D] kind of stuff.
[E] I was actually really impressed that [C] because they took it so [N] seriously.
_ _ They're on tour, they're living life and then to actually sit down and do it was like homework.
Having to sit down with their headphones and be on tour and have to sit down with their headphones and memorize this gibberish.
_ _ _ I used to work.

_ [Bb] _ There's definitely parts where they could learn that were harder.
[E] So there's certain parts of the verses that they'd know, okay I got this part really strong, I'm not [Cm] so sure about that part.
[N] And so when we'd go to shoot those verses we'd stage it so the part of the verse they knew a lot, they'd come up into the camera.
And the parts they didn't know they'd fall [Gb] back into the background with the other guys in the [C] foreground line.
_ [N] _ I started going through and thinking about what words either in English or sort of that look like English spelling can I use to fill in for these words in phonetic transcription that the guys could actually pronounce.
He was just like break it down to make it like another language so it wouldn't be just like sounds because otherwise you'd just hear like a gang of_
But he broke it down to it like a language so it helped us out a lot.
_ We'll sit and [C] they'll look at me, [Bb] come back and they'll look at me, they'll look at me, sit [F] down, but I'm [Db] gonna be sitting down. _
Well ideally I would have had [E] like a week solid to do nothing but work with them.
As it was I had [N] like two days.
We had like about five days.
At the most.
No more than five days.
We studied on the plane, studied in the bathroom.
We got the talking backwards thing, we got the walking backwards thing, we got the water backwards thing, we got the music backwards thing.
We got the glass smashing thing, we got the far side backwards thing.
