Uh, how's it going?
Good?
Good.
I'm gonna play an original for you.
Uh, this is my newest, and I haven't written one in a long time.
I had a little dry spell there, but after like a month of cloudy head,
I finally, you know, got a clear mind, and a couple days ago I wrote this song.
And it is very outside my comfort zone.
It is written from the perspective of a boy, um,
and basically it tells a story of how he doesn't get the girl
because a more interesting, more quirky fella swoops in and steals her.
So, I don't know.
It tells a story.
And it's written from the point of view of a man.
Of a boy.
Which is different for me, because, you know, I don't fancy girls,
but I thought I would try something funky fresh.
So, alright.
Definitely tell me what you think of this, because it's outside my comfort zone.
Alright.
This is The Mark I Missed.
My best friend told me [F#m] about her
And how she's starting to prefer
The guy with [D] the [D#] rainy Tuesday [F#m] eyes
She told me all [F#m]
about how he wears his socks inside out
And likes his coffee with [A] a spoon full of honey
[G] Well, here [A] I sit [Bm] looking angrily [F#m] at this
[G] I [A] thought that I'd be [F#m] the guy on her list
[G] I guess she was The [A] Mark I Missed
[D] And yesterday I heard she went [F#m] away
To ask that guy if he could play his [Bm] guitar for her
[A] And she [E] told [D] his words
And the boy with the rainy [F#m] Tuesday eyes
Smiled crookedly [Bm] and tied her up in his flannel shirts
[G] And spiky gelled [A] up hair
[D] Well, here [F#m] I sit [B] looking angrily [F#m] at this
[G] I thought [A] that I [F#m] could be the guy on her list
[G]
I guess she was The [A] Mark I Missed
[G] And here [A] I sit [Bm] looking angrily [F#m] at this
[G] I thought [F#m] that I could [Bm] be the guy [F#] on her [G]
list
I guess she was The Mark [A] I Missed
[D] [F#m]
[Bm]
[B] [G] [A] [D]
[F#m]
[G]
[A] [D] I thought someday
Down [F#m] south and counted stars on a lake
Near their house
And she never saw [G] them
[F#m] [D] And every day I wonder
I would have changed myself a bit
[F#m] Would she have seen differently?
[G] Would she have chosen
[C] [D]
