Hey, I'm Erica Olson and on this music minute.
We're at the bootleg theater [Bm] with the mystery lights welcome [A#] guys
So as your debut album, what kind of a statement did you guys want [A] to make as a band and with your music?
There's no statement
I mean we've been playing for together for 15 years
dating back to when we used to practice in a mechanic shop in Salinas as [F#] far as the statement is it's just kind of a
Collection of what [E] we've been doing
[F#] [G] [A]
[B] [E] [F#]
[A] [Cm] [E]
[Em]
Tell us about the song you're performing [D] from this album on music
Follow me home [E] that single is a good representation of the whole record because [D] all our inspirations are included in that song
[E] We've got your blues bass
[F#] Tough fuzz and it shows, [A]
you know what?
And [E] we usually start [F#m] with like some sort of intro [A] to like get us in the mood and everybody else in the [E] mood
Sort of it's shot of tequila to our [F#] set
[A]
[E] [G]
[A] [E]
[E] [Em]
[E]
[Bm] [Em]
[D] [Em] [E]
Turn away
[G] [F#] [F] [E]
[Em] [E] [E]
[F#] [F] [E] All I hear about is you gotta see the live performance Mike [D] you look like you're having so [E] much fun on stage
What is your mentality going into [B] life?
I don't know
I used to get [E] in trouble in class because [Em] it's cute still and I look at the stage [A] sort of a little place to
Expel that excessive [E] energy that used to get me in trouble.
It's just a good place to be
[G]
[F#]
[F] [E]
[Em] [E] [E]

Very cool artwork going on here.
Tell us about it Kevin or for a piece of player
[Em] Designed that [E] and on the back [Em] actually if you flip it, this is our good friend
Sasha Lekha is a photographer for Rolling Stone and like one of the [E] coolest dudes ever
[G] [F#] [F] Let's just do
What we both wanna do
[E]
This album not only your debut album, but it helped launch Gaptones
Sublabel wick.
What was your reaction when you heard that you guys were gonna be the ones to launch that just the way that it happened
There was really the only reaction was meeting somebody so like-minded
Where it was like, thank God we found our home you guys do it, right?
Everything you put on on Gaptones all [F#] this whole music is done, right and we've been [Em] looking for you for a long time and
It's just just felt very very very organic.
And yes, we're [E] very honored
[Em]
[E]
[Em] [E]
[G] [G] [D]
So I would imagine after 15 years you had a ton of music.
How did you whittle it down [Dm] to what 11 songs?
I mean, [Am] there's been a lot of different versions of this band and it's always kind of had the same root
musically, but
this line up here
[A] Includes Kevin Harris and Alex Amini that guy right there
the ballads
[F#] Essentially this was just like what we were playing [A#] at the time in this lineup
so it's like kind of cool because it captures what [Am] we were doing at that moment in time, but
But it did take some a lot of [D] like a lot of conversations of what are we gonna put right?
What's a good representation of like the first [E] record because we have [F#] so much stuff so much material [A] to work with
Yeah, and this [F] is current
This is the most [D] current makes more most sense that really like shows what the new
