Welcome to the Swamp Chab, brothers and sisters.
I'm your host, Steve Vest.
The year is 1969.
The city is Jacksonville, Florida, and the place is Skateland,
a roller dome that would be transformed into a place for rock and roll concerts on the weekend.
At that time, Leonard Skinner was the one percent.
Still, they started there in 1968, and we all played there, Jet Set Enterprises, for about a year.
And in the year 1969, the one percent shared the building with Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes.
Now, Ted came up to Ronnie wearing his cowboy hat, and he tipped his hat, and he said, watch this.
So he went out on the stage, and he got into his, before he got on the stage, he got into his big bird outfit.
Now, it was a white bird outfit where only his head showed.
Ted would have this crazy look in his eyes and this long, frizzy hair part in the middle.
And he'd jump off his Marshall amp, and he said, Jacksonville, [F] Cat Scratch Fever.
And he began to play Cat Scratch Fever.
Well, he did a great [A] job, you know, and got the audience's attention.
And then he came back, and he looked at Ronnie, and he said, top that.
[N] And Ronnie looked at Ted, and he said, we will.
Well, they went out there, and they let me play with them on the harmonica because I can play guitar riffs on a harp.
And they let me get on there, and we did Give Me Three Steps.
And we smoked the Amboy Dukes, and the crowd loved Give Me Three Steps.
And Ronnie came back, and he said, we just did.
So there's a story proven that Leonard Skinner, in my opinion, is the best rock and roll band ever,
the most original rock and roll band ever.
And there's no comparison with all this plagiarism that's coming out about some of the very famous classic rock bands
and how they have actually taken other people's music.
You don't find that going on with Skinner.
I'll see you all at the next Swamp Chat, brothers and sisters.
