Paul Hyde Bob [B] rock of the payolas.
Let's see how you guys have changed over the years
[Bb] Do we have to?
[B] When people hear that the payolas are back together was there ever an [N] actual official disbandment of the group I think it was
FUFU wasn't it?
Name change name change name change so that we just forgot what we were called
So when did the call come or who made the call to say let's let's put the group back together and play some dates
It wasn't really one call.
I think
After a little bit of time we've done other things and eventually we just kind of we've always been very close friends
So it kept in contact and it just felt [Eb] like we should be writing songs
And is the magic still there you find yeah, yeah
Yeah, we're having a great [Bb] time now
Yeah, because there's a lot less pressure now than you know, there was in the day in the day
It was you know, we made our living from
[A] You know [G] we had
[F]
Please [Ab] a lot of people
Except ourselves, which is [Eb] a great place to be inside and I think the music's better for actually
How do you find the [E] audience's are reacting to [Eb] the pale is so far the dates that we've done it's been fantastic
Actually kind of shocking
Shockingly, I mean the respect that we've got gotten from [Gb] people in Canada [F] is amazing
But I was very taken back very surprised especially in [N] Montreal
We actually got a standing ovation really when we warmed up for John Fogerty
Which is I mean we all we did such quick quick set that we we just put down our instruments and kind of ran and we
Turned around and everybody was standing.
We're like, oh my god, it's not bad for a lot of old wankers
Yeah, now is it is it a greatest hits tour?
No, no, it's we're not dead to her
We're still here it's we play all the all the
Best songs and everything on the new EP and how has the music changed over the years?
Like do you still play the songs that we know from the pale is true to form?
[E] Let's say yeah, pretty well, [Bb] yeah a couple of them
[Dm]
Bob used to do a lot of this back in the day.
Are you still doing that on [G] stage?
[Gb] [F] [Eb]
[G]
Little less wish I think [N] yeah
Do you ever just for a laugh like look at the old videos and and if you do
What do you think when you see them today?
I love it.
We laugh.
Yeah, I would say for a laugh
You look at the old videos.
Yeah, I think this remember this
He's singing you've got the eyes what did I do?
Why did I do that?
Yeah, the old days when you did videos, this is really [Eb] bad for us
We [B] always got our hair cut the day before the video [Gb] and usually there was lots [Db] of surprises
[Gb] [B] any surprises on the show like
[Em] If [Gb] you bring Carol [E] Pope out or anything like that, no, no, we couldn't [Bb] afford her
But the two [B] original drummers Taylor [Eb] little and Chris Taylor [Fm] are gonna join us on stage for China [F] boys and I
[Bb] so
[F]
When you look back on the catalog, for [Bb] example, what do you think?
Is there anything that you think?
Yeah, this [Eb] is this is our best work and there's anything now that you look back and go what the [F] hell were we thinking back?
then
[E]
[Fm] Except for the separate mistake.
We made with the foster producing except for that [Bbm] one
[C] I'm quite proud of all the old stuff.
Yeah, it is it as it has [F] aged.
Well, I would say
There's nothing that you kind of go.
Ooh
[C] Nothing that I can think of and actually
I was saying to Paul when we're in Toronto after the first couple of shows that we did that actually I think I like the
Set better now than I've ever liked [F] it like, you know, [Bb] sometimes there was a weak one that didn't work live
But now with the new songs we've added the five new ones.
It sounds amazing like it feels really good
The David Foster era.
I [F] mean there were some people that claim that that changed the sound of the mail
[Dm] Was it was it at the [C] time?
It probably made sense when you look back on it [Eb] now
Do you regret going that direction?
Well, I would say that I definitely regret it
I mean it [Gb] was just that I don't think at that point because of our personal lives
we we were put in a position of it was almost like we were [B] working for the record company and
So [Ab] the choice is situation.
Yeah, it was it was just yeah, we tried [Gm] to make the best of it
and it [E] didn't work out and
That's one of those things that [Eb] first
Now [E] I know that you [G] guys got to go into a sound check in a second
But finally, is this a one-off tour or do you think the return of the [Gb] pale is?
[C] What I think we're gonna keep going as long as we're gonna finish the finish
They do [G] the second half of the CD.
It's already written.
[Bb] So we just got to record it and then
Hopefully get [Bb] out and do some more stuff right [Eb] across Canada would be nice
Go to all the little places.
Well speaking as a pale of man and on behalf of Phil fans
It's great to have you guys back.
Thank you
