Right now, you've actually been quite naughty.
We've [Dbm] done a few interviews with a few of your friends,
people that work with you, okay,
to find out how you guys were [G] as a band back then
and [Eb] how it was working with you.
Okay, just take a look at this video.
[C] [Eb] [C]
[B] [A] [D] Well, [Dm] the quests were [G] sort of recommended to us
by Kingsley Mirando, talent [A] scout at that time
[Dm] [G] on the Talent Time [Em] series in [C] Singapore.
[D] And [G] he said, well, [C] there was a wonderful band
that was making [B] a headway in the [A] scene at that [Dm] time.
And we said, well, we'll have [G] an audition of this band.
[C] They came into [A] our studio, [Dm] EMI studio,
[G] which was at McDonald [Eb] House.
And they did [C] a good audition,
but they were doing cover [F] versions at that time,
[Ab] cover versions of The Shadows [C] and other bands.
And we thought that it [F] wasn't fair to [G] record such material.
It [F] so happened that they came back in a [G] week's time
with [G] two lovely tunes called Shanty and [C] Galloping,
which then got recorded [Gbm] eventually
[Dm] and turned up as a hit single.
[G] This particular single [C] did fairly [Dm] well in Singapore
when it was issued.
[G] [Eb] We were looking for something [C] and a request came
and that was [F] Shanty.
[Ab] And I think it was such a [C] revelation in the sense
that it plugged in the music gap,
[F] especially in the Singapore [G] scene.
Shanty was [F] an original.
[G] I thought it was a masterpiece.
I think The Prince is definitely [C] a legendary band.
[B] They're from Singapore, probably [A] Swiss continent.
[Dm] You have to go in the era of [G] Donaldson, how big they were.
They were the first to go [A] beyond our shores
[Dm] to [G] places like [Em] Malaysia, Sabah, [D] Sarawak,
and more [G] importantly, Hong [C] Kong.
The quest [A] really made it big.
[Dm] But the beautiful part of it was
[G] they always managed to keep their sound.
[C] [Am] And [Dm] in terms of [G] stage presentation,
[Eb] I think they [D] were second to [C] none.
If they have a concert on,
[Eb] everybody would say, hey, let's go and get a ticket.
Let's go [C] and see the quest.
They'd say, hey, the quest tonight will be on TV.
[F] Let's go and [Fm] stay the night and watch them.
They [C] were the teen idol.
The teen idol.
[F] Be it one of the concerts at the Singapore Paddington [G] Hall
or the National Theatre,
then [F] [Gm] we were just [G] waiting for the quest to come on.
And they have a [G] certain charisma about [C] them
that [B] they were [A] able to just [D] mesmerize the crowd
with [F] their performance.
And [B] we just waited for them.
And sometimes you [G] just can't help it,
but [A] everybody goes gaga [F] over the quest.
And there was this [Em] quest mania going on
at that point in time.
[D] It was [G] just one of those [C] things
where you just can't express yourself,
but it's there.
[A] You [D] know, if you listen to the album now,
[G] you're just impressed with the quest in an album.
You know [Am] that they are [Dm] still good.
[G] And this is something which [Eb] I think
[Ab] all Singaporeans [C] should be proud [Eb] of.
Because we really have a great band.
