[F] [G#]
[F]
[Gm]
[D] [A] That's when they say I lost my [Bm] only friend
[A] Yeah, [Gm] they say she died easy [D] of a broken heart to see [A] as I listen through the cemetery [Bm] trees
[A] I seen [Gm] the Sun coming up at the [D] funeral
down [A] the long broken arm of [Bm] human love
[A] Yeah, [Gm] it always seems such [D] a waste she always had a pretty [F#m] face I wondered why she hung around [Bm] this place
[A] [G]
[F#m]
[A] [G]
[D] Nothing [Em] is forever
There's got to be [A] something better than in the [G] middle me and Cinderella
[D] We put it all [Bm] together.
We can drive it home
[A] with the one
[G]
[D] [F#m]
[Bm] [A] I
She [G] said it's cold it feels like [D] Independence Day and I can't [A] break away from [Bm] this parade
[A] [Dm] But there's got to be an opening somewhere here in front of [A] me through this maze of ugliness [Bm] and [A] greed
I [Gm] seen the Sun up ahead at [Dm] the county line bridge
[F] Singing all this good and nothing.
[Bm] This is [A] dead
[Gm] Running so she's out of [D] breath she ran and so there's nothing [F#m] love she hit the edge.
It's just a [Bm] window
[A] [G]
[F#m]
[A] [G] Come on
[D] Nothing is [Em] forever
There's got to be [A] something better than in [G] the middle me and [A] Cinderella
We put it all [Em] together.
We can drive it home
[A] with the [G] one
[Dm] [Em]
[A] [G] This place is all it feels just like [D] a beat-up truck turn [A] the engine but the [Bm] engine doesn't turn
[A] It smells [Gm] of cheap wine and cigarettes.
[D] This place is always such [A] a mess.
Sometimes I think I'd like [Bm] to watch it
I'm [G] so alone.
I feel [D] just like somebody else man.
I ain't [F] changed, but I know [Bm] I'm not the [A] same
[G] And somewhere here in between [D] the city walls and dying [A] dreams I think it's at it might be [Bm] killing me
[A] [G]
[F#m]
[A] [G] Come on
[A] Nothing is [Em] forever.
There's got to be [A] something better than in the [G] middle me and Cinderella
[Dm] We put it all [Em] together.
We can drive it home
[A] with one
[G]
[D] [Em]
[A] [G]
[Dm] [Em]
[A] [G]
[Dm] [E]
[G] [D]
I
[Bm] [A]
[G] Picked [Bm] one headlight by the wallflowers because I wanted to pick something that was kind of
I guess really distant from [A] what I normally do is the ready set
[G] it's definitely from a [F#] different time and
It's really just that like I really like the contrast and I really like the contrast of the lyrics and
I guess the melodies like I'm really big into taking things that are kind of dark and like kind of um
I guess lyrically a little creepy with like a really catchy kind of poppy melody
So that's kind of like the that's sort of what drew me into it.
Like that's always been a big a big thing for me
[D]
[F#] [Bm] I
[G] [D]
[A] [Bm]
[F] Think the hardest part about it was probably just just remembering all the lyrics [C#] like I didn't realize how cool the lyrics and that song
Really were until I started I was just reading through I'm trying to memorize it
We kind [F#] of just sat down with the song once we decided what it was gonna be and
just listen to it in the back lounge of the bus and
Just kind of messed around with like the guitar and cajon and really just tried to make it a little more pop
Just did some real simple harmony stuff and and tried to keep it as like basic and I guess just make the strongest parts
Of the song [A] kind of stand out the most
[G] [Dm]
[Em] [A]
