[N] Hey, what's up you guys Marty here again with guitar jams calm got another
Got another lesson for you.
That's a more beginner style lesson and it's
By this pretty cool band called the scripts and I I know they're from Ireland.
I've got some Ireland
Watchers out there.
So what's up you guys nice to see you
All right.
Let's get right into it.
We got a
We got a verse and a chorus and then there's like a little bridge section and that's really it so let's start learning it
Alright, so the first thing you notice is I've got a capo here on the third fret of my guitar
And then we're gonna just play some real standard, you know, basic beginner chords
So I've arranged this for like, you know, someone that wants to sing it by themselves, you know
I didn't put the like fancy guitar parts in there is very beginner oriented
So to write, [Eb] you know to do an intro without the singing it's the chords
Of the chorus actually, but so it goes like this.
I'm C
C major chord
to a [Bb] G chord
to a [F] D chord
To an E [Gm] minor chord like that
So you can kind of just you know, if you want to do a [F] nice little intro a sensitive intro
You can just let them [Eb] ring out like C [Bb] G
[F] D [Gm] E minor [Eb] C
[Bb] G
[Gm] D E minor you do that four times and then you go to like a little turnaround thing and it just sounds like this E minor to [F] D
to [Bb] G and
[Cm] Then what's called an a minor seven chord like that?
You just do that one time before you go into the verse and I'm going to show you the verse right now
We go like this
It's E minor
[Gm] [F] to D
You just hit each one
[Gm] [F] [Gm] Like that and you can even hit it and then kind of slap your hand down
[F] Like that to give a little [Gm] percussiveness if you want E minor to D
[F] then [Bb] G
[Cm]
To a minor seven and that's
[Gm] [F]
[Cm] [Gm] [F]
[Bb] So [Cm] forth and so on
[F] [Bb] [Cm]
[Gm] [F] [Bb] [Cm]
So that is the verse real simple, you know
Cuz you can just let them ring out and then what you do is before you go to the chorus
You [Gm] build it up on the a minor seven chord.
So yeah
[F] [Bb] [Cm]
[Gm] [F] [Bb]
[Cm] So you start to build up [Bb] the G one two, [Cm] three four a two three four
So you build up the G then the [Bb] a minor seven?
[Cm] [Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Gm] [Eb] [Bb]
[Gm] [Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Gb] So the chorus as I was you know playing it out.
[Eb] There is C
to [Bb] G
[F] D
to E minor
[Gm]
And so I know there's beginners out there wanting to work this out.
So let's work on the rhythm now
So it's gonna go like this [Abm] down up down up [E] down up down up [Eb] down up down up
Here it is again down up [D] down up down up [Eb] down up down up down up
So you're gonna want to work that out kind of slow if you've never you know worked on rhythm before like that
Plus you got to coordinate your chord changes.
So we've got
Down up down up down and that last down I just said is when it switches to G from C
So we've got down up [Bb] down up down up down up down up [Eb] down up still on the G
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb] Up down up down up down up
Up down up down up down [Eb] up down [Bb] up down up.
[Ab] They do the same thing from [F] the D to the E minor
Up [Gm] down up D [F] -minor
[Gm]
[Eb] [Bb]
[F] [Gm] [Eb] [Bb] And [F] [Gm]
[Bb] [F] [Gm]
[Eb] I might have varied it there earlier on because I I just kind of take these rhythms as a guideline
[Bb] [Gm]
[Eb] You know, I get the feeling in there, but I know you know
I noticed that a lot of people appreciate the rhythm things coming up there and I probably
would have appreciated that too if YouTube existed when I started learning guitar, but it didn't.
So, lucky you.
Anyway, let's do that one more time, the chorus.
[Bb] [Gm]
[Eb] [Bb] [F]
[Gm] [Bb]
[F] [Gm] [Eb] [Bb]
[Gm] So after the chorus, when it transitions back into the verse, it does this little turnaround
thing again, which did it right before the first verse, which is Em, [F] D, [Bb] G, [Cm] Am7, which
we already did, right into another verse.
So we've got verse and chorus, verse and chorus.
So this little bridge is another sensitive part, Em to D, [Gm] G to Am7.
[F]
[Cm] [Gm] [F]
[Eb] [Gm] Alright, so the bridge is going to go Em, [F] D, [Bb] G, [Cm] Am7, just like we did before.
Then it does it a second [Gm] time.
[F] [Bb] [Cm] From that Am, [Bb] it goes right back to the G,
[G] right into the verse again.
So that's the bridge.
It's already the chords that we've already kind of worked on.
So
[Bb] it does the build up [Gm] [F]
[Bb] [Cm] right into that verse, into the chorus, and then you're just rocking
out and you're having a really good time.
So hopefully that was doable for you.
Keep plugging away at this stuff.
And I've got a ton of different DVDs and lessons that will help you along to learn the fundamentals of guitar.
So you can click the link to the right to check that out.
But otherwise I've got more songs and lessons and performances and stuff like that coming your way.
So thanks a lot you guys.
We'll see you later.
