The Secret [Gm] Place is a newer hymn written by R.C. Sproul.

These were the words of the late [Bb] R.C. Sproul.
It was evident to Dr.
Sproul that music historically played [Eb] a central part [Bb] in expressing worship and theology.
[Dm] He saw that hymns of the past were written with profound theological themes
[F] and sweeping melodies that have been [Bb] invaluable in passing on [Eb] the faith [Bb] once delivered to the saints.
He [Dm] also saw the weakened state of modern worship in the church
and [Bb] decided not just to point out [Dm] the problem, [Eb] but rather to do something about it.
[F] R [Bb].C., with a lifetime of study in ministry, penned [Gm] the lyrics of over 12 dozen hymns.
[F] Within these came the hymn, The [Gbm] Secret Place.
[Gm] R.C. was no stranger to the concept [Bb] that the true believer had special access to the secret [Dm] place with God.
A place where the believer [Bb] stands in awe of a mighty God.
[C] A place where the threats of this [F] world have no power [Bb] on our lives.
A place of peace.
A place [F] of rest.
A place where we [Dm] draw near and worship in [Eb] spirit and [Bb] truth.
R.C. Sproul [F] knew The Secret [Bb] Place.
It's there where any true believer can stand in the shadow of the King.
[Dm] And in his shadow we need not fear the [Bb] terrors that come at night, nor the flaming arrows by [Eb] morning light.
This hymn [F] helps us meditate on the security [Bb] we have in Christ.
It helps us [Gm] meditate on the free access we have to him [F] where we can worship him,
know his [Gm] presence, and be reminded that nothing [Bb] in this world can supplant us from his glorious [Dm] grace.
