Now it's a different [Eb] world.
Now people [G] understand, people love and [E] people enjoy
[G] Ethiopian jazz now.
[D] But it was not easy.
It was [F] a very long and hard work [Eb] to
introduce that music in Ethiopia.
[Bb] But finally [G] now there's a lot of Ethiopians
who love jazz, [B] a lot of Ethiopians who are [G] experimenting on Ethiopian jazz music.
[D] So at the
beginning it was difficult [B] but finally now it's getting to the people.
It took a long time
but it's okay.
[N] These two bands are two different bands.
Ethiostars is another
one [Eb] and the one we use for the Tukul band is [D] not exactly [F] Ethiopian jazz.
Different [G] kind of musicians selected to the band.
Closer to traditional Ethiopian music.
Yeah, traditional, local, you know, that kind of thing.
But originally [Eb] it was like [E] the
Ethiostars was the original band for a long time.
[C] In fact I've tried to develop
Ethiopian cultural [D] musical instruments.
[F] You know, those [Eb] instruments are usually
limited to five notes and I've did a few experiments [B] work especially on the
kran [C] to develop it.
However, in the near future probably we'll be able to play [G] any
European music with the kran, [Ab] which I'm working on it and I also [Fm] have been to [E] MIT
to develop this as well in [Ab] Boston [E] and we're trying [Eb] to computerize it, to develop
it and [G] it's not only developing the instruments, it's also [Cm] developing the mind
of [C] those musicians who play the cultural musical instruments because they are only
limited [G] to five notes and that's it.
So [F] if we develop the instruments, [Fm] you [Dm] develop
their mind as well.
That's the whole idea.
[E]
We've been working on it.
That's what [F] we'll do in the future.
And now, you know, we're working with Steps Ahead Band.
They're great musicians [A] and
[Ab] we've almost been like seven [A] years together now.
So we've been working
together and we're [Eb] developing Ethiogels and more people are enjoying, more people are loving it.
And I think we just keep on going.
