_ [A] _ _ [E] Hi, I'm [A] Will Reed.
And I'm Langdon Reed.
[E] And we're cousins, and we make up the country
music duo, Grandstaff.
And a lot of people say that we sound a little bit like our dads.
My dad is Harold Reed.
And mine is Don Reed.
But you know them as the founding members of the Stadler Brothers.
Oh, yes.
Our dads are going to be out here with us shortly to talk about the good old
days.
So many random memories, you could write a book about it.
And that's what they did.
And we wrote a song about them.
It's a tribute song, and we surprised them with it to celebrate
their induction, first into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and then the Country Music Hall of Fame.
And here's a video of our song that shows off a few of the 79 pictures included in our
dad's book, Random Memories. _ _ _ _

You've been called America's Poet.
You started out as a gospel [E] quartet. _
[A] You entertained on
and [E] off of the [A] record. _
And your records [A] we'll never [E] forget. _
_ [F#m] You've sold out shows to [D] millions
and sang your [Bm] part in four [E] matching suits [A] and accepted your awards [D] and always thanked
the Lord in tuxedos [E] and patent leather [A] boots. _
So carry [D] me back to [A] Virginia.
And let us hear [E] how great thou [A] art again.
_ And if you ever [D] hear the stage [A] a-callin',
we'll even [B] love you better than we [E] did [F#] then.
We [A] love Shirley, Jean, [D] Burrell, and [A] Elizabeth.
Bed of roses [E] makes me Atlanta [A] blue.
_ _ And thank you, world, [D] for giving us [A] the stage.
And we'll never forget you, Shirley, and the others, because we'll go to [E] our grave
[A] loving you.

_ _ _ _ [A] _ _ You wrote songs about making memories _ and childhood heroes [E] years ago.
And then [A] you
met [E] all of [A] your heroes _ and had them on your television [E] shows. _
[F#m] But you never forgot [D] where
you [A] came from.
Oh, I [Bm] got lost in the fortune [E] hand thing. _
[A] From flowers on the wall [D] to the
last curtain call, [A] country music [E] will never be [A] the same. _
So carry [D] me back to [A] Virginia.
And let us hear [E] how great thou [A] art again.
_ And if you [D] ever hear the [A] stage a-callin', _
we'll [B] even love you better than [E] we did then.
We [A] love Susan, [D] Wayne, She Tried, [A] and Elizabeth.
_ Bed of roses [E] makes me [A] Atlanta blue.
_ And thank you, [D] world, for giving [A] us the Stadler's.
Because we'll go [E] to our grave [A] loving you.
_ America [D] salutes the [A] Stadler brothers.
_ Because we'll go [E] to our grave [D] loving you.
_ _ _ _ [A] Loving you. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And here we [E] are, back with our dads, Harold and Don.
Now, what a great video.
Great video.
That's terrific.
Well, thank you.
You make us proud.
Thank you [D#] very much.
I'm not even going to pretend that that's the first time.
But it's the first time that
I'm able to say to the world on camera how proud I am, I'm sure speaking for my brother
Don, of the song you guys wrote, which is a great song.
Of the things you [D#] said.
First
time I heard it, I cried.
Second or third time I heard it, I got to listen about what
[N] a good song it was.
And we really do appreciate it.
Well, I appreciate it.
Actually, it was a treat for me in Lightning because it was the
first time that we got to write a Stadler brothers song.
You know, instead of y'all
getting to write all of them, that we got to do it.
If you want to look at it like that, that's okay.
And thanks for the pictures.
They went along great with the song, for the video.
It took us a lifetime to give you that set.
All of those pictures.
Yes, it did.
So you've gotten to the book, Stadler Brothers Random Memories.
After all
these years and your career and traveling and singing, _ what made you write a book? _
Basically, the two of you made us write books.
We've been sitting around for years telling
stories and then you all encouraged us to write these down and we didn't know if anybody
wanted to hear them or not.
And we never really had time during our career to write.
You're
out there singing, you're out there recording and writing songs and traveling, doing concerts.
But it wasn't until we were tired that we could look back over the whole body of what
we did and we said, okay, maybe we do have some stories we want to [A] tell.
And we started
[C#] doing it and it was fun once we found the way to do it.
And when you guys started [D] asking us questions all those [D#] years, I wasn't even sure you all
wanted to hear the answers.
But [F] anyway, _ after you all were so receptive, we thought it was
a good time to do it and as we talked before, we thought it might be time to add a little
bit to the legacy before it became legend.
Hi, I'm [D] Shannon McCombs.
I love the Stadler Brothers.
[B] These guys have won more awards
than any [G] country music group in history.
And I knew Harold and Don's book, the Stadler
Brothers Random [D] Memories, would be a classic to the people who love them.
Over 300 pages
[G] of wonderful, heartfelt stories from their Hall of Fame career.
Enjoy [D] 79 pictures, some
of them from their private collection, [A] never released to the public until now.
Don and
Harold Reed tell how the group was formed when they were just teenagers and how going
on the road with Johnny Cash changed their [E] lives.
They tell the stories [G] behind the songs
that made them [Em] famous.
And they dedicate a chapter [D] to the time they spent with presidents,
[A] world leaders, movie stars and [D] many others.
You can share in all these wonderful memories
that are beautifully printed by sending a check or money [F#] order for $29.98 plus shipping
and [D] handling to the Nashville address on your screen.
