Hey, what's up everybody?
This is Patrick Ryan, and I'm gonna be doing a tutorial for Rolling Stone by the weekend
I actually never made a guitar tutorial before but I made a cover of that song a while back and
Lots of people in the comments were asking for a lesson so here it is
Right now I have the capo on the second fret because my guitar is a half step down in tuning
so this is gonna bring it up to
So this D minor is gonna be a D sharp minor [N] just like how the song is
Just in case you guys are wondering about the capo
so
I'm gonna show you two ways how to play this song
One will be like a more intermediate version with bar chords and one is gonna be an easier way for more beginners or for people
who are singing with the song so
I'll just start off with telling you guys the chords.
So the first chord [Eb] is a D sharp minor
Second chord is a G [Abm] sharp minor
[F] The last chord is gonna be an A sharp [Bbm] minor
You play that twice
so
Then you're gonna be picking it while you're playing it.
So
You only are picking actually three notes of [Db] each chord.
So
With this first chord the D sharp minor
[Eb] It's gonna be the bass note.
So the D sharp
it's gonna [Gbm] be the
B string and [Eb] the G string and you're just gonna repeat that so it's
[Eb]
[Ab] You switch to the [G] G sharp minor and you just play the bass note and then those same two bottom strings the B and the
G and you just move your thumb up to the [Abm] top E.
So you go
[Ab] Repeat literally the exact [F] same thing on that last chord the A [Bbm] sharp minor
[N] And then so that's pretty much how you just play the whole song
You literally do that the whole way through then I'll start off with the
I'll go ahead and teach you guys the easier way to play it how I like to play sometimes when I'm singing because
After playing it for about three minutes straight, you don't want your hand cramping up while you're trying to sing
You know, that's gonna be it's gonna throw off your [B] singing
So sometimes I like to play it a little simpler way while I'm gonna sing
So you just play a regular?
D [Ebm] sharp minor
Then you go to [Abm] a G
Then [Bbm] you go to a minor and for playing it this way you will need a capo
So if you guys don't have a [N] capo go ahead and learn the bar chords
If you do have a capo, I would suggest doing it this way because easier to sing with like I was saying
so
right here, you're [Eb] picking the
B string the E string and the B string for that D minor right [Ebm] there.
So You
[N] Then you're gonna go over to this G and this is not this is a little bit different of a G
I just have my second finger on the E string third fret
my third Frank my third finger on
the G string
third fret and my
[C] For my office this finger [G] my pinky
On the B string third fret and you just pick all that again [Abm] with your thumb
[Eb] And your middle finger and your second [Abm] finger just like this
Then the last chord [Bbm] is just a regular a minor you'll be picking the a note
the E string and
the B string so
You play that twice
so [Ebm] all together it's
[Abm] [Bbm]
[Ebm] Think about it
[Abm] Girl, you think you're [Bbm] mad at what we got here
How we fucking got here [Ebm] they recognize they [Abm] just recognize
[Bbm] Men of life without a home
So recognition's not [Ebm]
enough
[Abm] So that's how you play it
[Bbm]
All [F] right.
I hope this tutorial helped you guys [G] have any more questions.
Just leave it in the comment the comment section below
I'll be happy to help you guys out.
[N] All right.
