Thank you very much.
That's a track we first recorded on our first album, which was about
[N] autumn 1964, and it's based on two songs really, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, you're really
good at holding me, and a Sam Cooke song, sort of sandwiched together.
We really liked
the way that worked, so we recorded it that way, and as I say, we just recently rediscovered
it, and it's been great for us going back over our old catalogue and finding these songs.
Sometimes songs that we never ever played live, you're so pressured in those days to
come up with singles and albums, and you would record things and actually never play them
live, so it's been [Gb] really interesting for us to go back and actually learn songs that
we first played [E] when we were about 18 or 19 years old.
[Db] And over the years, we've played
with many, [F] many people, and [E] you know, some really, really big names, and some really
good players that perhaps are not so well known.
We're going to play a song now that
[Bb] is a particular favourite of mine, I [Ab] sang for many years with the Alan Parsons Project,
and this is my favourite song of the songs that I sang [Bb] for them, and it's from an album
called Eye in the Sky, [A] and this song is called Old.
[N] As [Em] [F]
[D] [A] [Gb]
far as [G] my eyes can see
[Dm]
There [Em] are shadows approaching [F] me
[Dm]
[Cm] The truth I've left [G] behind
[Bb] I wanted you to know
[Ab] You are a [Cm] shadow, I am a star
You follow where I go
[Gm] [Ab] When I'm [Cm] open for it
You know when I'm in, you know I'll tune it
All [G] around you, all around [Cm] you
So [Gm] I'll always be
In the middle of [Cm] time
[Fm] When they [Cm] ask me if I leave
[D] I smile and say [G] you are a friend of [Ab] mine
And [Bb] the sadness of your [Cm] eyes
[Ab] Oh, [Gm] when I'm [C]
old
As [A] far as my eyes can [F] see
[Dm]
There are shadows around [F] me
The [Dm]
[Cm] truth I've [G] left behind
I [Bb] want you more [F] too
I'll [Cm] shut my eyes out
[D] I'll miss you when I'm [Cm] old Old
[Bb] When I'm [Cm] old I'll walk in [Fm] this world
And it [Cm] wasn't just in [D] my head
I know [G] where you are
[Cm] So [Bb] I'll always [Ab] be
In the middle [Cm] of time
[Fm] When they [Cm] ask me if you knew me
[D] Remember that [G] you were my [Ab] love
[Bbm] [Cm]
[Ab] [C] When I'm open for it
As [Em] far as my eyes can [C] [Dm] [D]
[A] [Ab] see
[Cm] [Ab]
[D] [C] [Ab]
[G] [Cm] [Ab]
[Em] [D] [Ab] [A]
