[B] _ _ _ [N] What's going on everybody?
My name is Adrian and today we're going to be learning Sam Fisher's
This City.
I first heard this song on TikTok and I actually really like this song.
So yeah,
so I'm hoping that I can teach you.
It's super simple, it has four chords and it's revolving
throughout the whole song.
So once you learn it, you're going to be playing it in no time.
So let's get started.
So _ first and foremost, this is in standard tuning.
That's E, A, D, G, B, E,
and you're going to put your capo on the fourth fret.
So every single chord that is going to be
said is going to be in relative _ to that fourth capo.
So the intro, let's break it down.
Intro,
verse, chorus.
Like I said, it's four simple chords and they're going to be repeating.
So
it's fairly similar from one verse to the next.
So the intro sounds a little bit like this. _
[B] _ _ _ [F#] _ _ _ [B] _ _
Okay,
[D] so it has a plucking pattern to it.
So the way I do it is I'm [Em] putting my ring finger on the third
fret of the A string.
So that's a C and then [B] your _ pinky is going to be on the second, _ sorry,
the third fret, but on the B string.
So the second last string at the bottom.
_ _ Okay, and [G] then the
plucking pattern kind of goes, you're going to hit these two or these three [Am] strings.
So your A,
_ [F#] G, and B string.
Okay, _ _ _ _ [G#] and then you're going to flick the E string, which is an open open chord,
[G#m] _ _ _ [E] _ _
[G#m] _ _ [B] _ and then you're going to [D] transition to the next chord, which is a, [F#] which is a G essentially,
but you're only going to be putting, _ you're going to be hitting the third fret of the E string and
you're going to be strumming or [Gm] plucking [B] these, _ _ _ these four strings right here.
So the E, D, G,
B strings.
Okay. _
_ _ [Am] And now notice that a G is essentially _ like this, [B] right? _
But I'm actually
leaving it open, but the root of the, of the chord is there, which is the G.
Okay.
So it's
going to look like this.
[F#] _ _
_ _ [B] _ _ _ [F#] _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _ _
[Gm] So [G] in between each chord is going to be a slap.
Okay.
So that kind of adds
a [E] percussion to it.
So, _ [B] _ _
_ [F#] _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ okay.
[G] And then that kind of goes into the verse as well.
I [E] haven't seen
lonely [B] people in crowded rooms, _ _ _ [E] covering their old [B] heartbreaks with new tattoos.
[N] So this is where we
introduce the third [G] and the fourth chord.
So it's going to be an E minor.
So [C#] your index finger and
[G] your ring, uh, middle finger is going to be on the, [D#] um, the a and the D [G#m] string and on the second fret.
_ It's going to sound a little bit like that.
Okay. _
And then [D] the next one is D [F#] kind _ of looks like that.
So your index finger is going to be on the, uh, the G string of the second fret.
Middle finger is
going to be on the E string of the second fret.
And then your ring finger is going to be on the B
string of the third fret.
And what I'm plucking is actually _ the, um, the D string and the three
strings below that.
So these, these four strings right here.
Okay.
[F#] So it's going to be, [B] _ _ _ [F#] _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [C#] _ _ _
[B] _ _ [Gm] _ _ [G#m] _ [F#] I [C#] haven't
about smoke [B] screens and cigarettes looking through low lights and silhouettes.
All I see. _ _ _
[F#] _ All _ _ right.
So it's gonna, sorry about my voice.
Um, it's high and low.
[E] Um, Sam Fisher's way too
good.
[D] So, um, yeah, so it's gonna be like that.
C G C G C G E minor.
[G] And again, C G C G C G E
minor D.
Okay.
[E] Um, so that's the verse.
And then the chorus [Am] is essentially repeating C G E minor
D.
Okay.
[C] The city's gonna bring [B] my heart.
The [G#m] city's gonna love me and leave me [F#] alone.
The
[B] city's gonna be chasing [Bm] stars.
[F#] So the C is actually not the C that you're used [G] to or been taught to
play.
It's actually a C add nine.
Um, so that is the base [A] chord of what, what we were playing [B] in
the intro.
So instead of just choosing this, we're going to [F#] put into C at nine and we're [Bm] just
going to strum it.
_ [C#] The city's gonna [Bm] break my heart.
It's going to go to the G and then E minor and D
[G#m] city's gonna love me.
Leave [F#] me alone.
The city's got me chasing stars.
_ [G#m] _ _ [F#] Okay.
_ _ [Em] So then that's going
to repeat again, [F] um, until the end of the chorus, which you will go, the interlude is going to be.
_ [B] _
_ _ _ [G#m] _ _ [C#] _ So instead of going, see it, uh, like [B] instead of doing the [F#] intro, _ _ [B] _ uh, the intro chords, [G#] you're
going to go the intro chord plus the E minor and [G#m] the D, which means [B] a _ _ [A] _ [G#m] minor.
[F#] _
And then you're [G] going
to go into verse two.
Um, and then the verse two and the next chorus after that, it's going to be
the exact same as the first verse and the chorus.
So, um, so yeah, so I think, uh, I think that's
about it in terms of the chords.
Um, you can just play around with it if you want to strum it,
pluck it or whatever you want to do with it.
Um, it's a super awesome song and, uh, um, yeah.
So hopefully you guys [B] enjoy.

[B]
So until next time, [G#] peace.
