This [G] song I wrote a few years ago and it's been recorded a couple times now.
A guy named Paul Roush, some of y'all know Paul, he recorded this song.
And the Southern Drawl Band is getting ready to record this for their next project.
It's a song about New Orleans and it was pretty cool.
This year a [D] party girl, we went [G] down there and I got to perform this song with the Southern [A] Drawl Band
[G] on a stage that was on Bourbon Street for several hundred people.
It was way cool.
You never know when you're sitting [C] there in a room writing a [Em] song
[A] where it's going to [G] take you, where you're going to end up performing it.
It was pretty cool.
This song was inspired by a ghost tour that I went on in New Orleans back about 13 years ago.
[A]
[Em]
[C] The spell underneath it's spell
[G]
We were young and love [A] without a care
Next [Am] morning at cafe du [G] mont
She said let me read you a [Am] poem
With my hand in [A] hers she [Am] said
[G] They say that when you leave this [Em] life you'll spend eternity
[Bm] In the place [Bm] where you were [C] happiest
If [A] that's so then I know [G] I'll be
Walking somewhere in between Jackson Square and Bourbon [Bm] Street
Holding [C]
your hand
[Am] We'll leave it [A] all behind
[G] Wandering [D] among the ghosts of New Orleans
Streetcars off the road let [C] us on
One day we [G] left in a sidewalk fortune teller
[A] Wished us well
[Bm] But over time the magic [C] failed
People would go their separate [G] ways
And in the end she married [A] someone else
[Am] I think of her from time to [G] time
And I've heard that she's doing fine
But I [C] wonder if it's wrong or [D] hope she's right
[A] They [G]
say that when you leave this life you'll spend eternity
In the [Bm] place where you were [C] happiest
If that's [D] so then I [G] know I'll be
Walking somewhere in between Jackson Square and Bourbon Street
[Bm] [F#] [C] Holding her hand
[Am] We'll leave it [A] all behind
[D] [G] Wandering [D] among the ghosts [G] of New Orleans
[C] As I step into [G] the light [A] I see her on the other side
[Am] We're young and she's got [G] that sundress on
[C] She's waiting on the [Em] corner
As I [Bm] get a little [Em] closer
[C] She smiles and says what took you so [A] long
[G] And we're walking somewhere in between Jackson Square and Bourbon Street
[Bm]
And I'm holding [C] her [A] hand
[G] We'll leave it [Am] all behind
[C] Wandering [D] among the ghosts [G] of New Orleans
